: I have a small business and would like it to look like an old gas station. It would not have tanks in the ground. Did anyone have problems doing this? Is this a zoning issue? Any stations for sale? Any ideas on getting started? Thanks. Great web site.
Hi Larry,
Zoning is a very locally unique issue. Each area has its own way of doing things. Thre have been many old stations across the country that have been restored to an older period but are not operating gas stations. In a historic preservation area, you may even get some assistance in restoring an old station for the sake of neighborhood ambiance.
Take a look at some of the examples on the oldgas.com Places to Visit page. Then contact the people who own the restored stations listed and learn from their experiences. The station pictured on this page is listed on our Visit page.

We occasionally have old stations offered for sale here at oldgas.com. You may be able to find one by researching around the area where you'd like be located.
