I have a pre 1932 shell oil cabinet (currently in 1965
white with red interior and 1965 shell Super oil logo). The white is peeling away to reveal the original red. However,I cannot be sure how much the original red has deteriorated in tone for an accurate reference.I also have a 1935 one quart shell oil can which has a slightly different tone of red to the oil cabinet - more of an ochre red tone.
I am planning to restore a British built Wayne 861 clock face petrol pump in British Shell 1930's red.
Does anyone know whether 1930's Shell petrol pumps had
the identical tone of red to the oil cabinets?
What is the closest modern reference colour-Royal Mail
postal van red or London Transport bus red?
British Shell petrol pump globes and pump colours differed substantiall y from The US Shell colour schemes
