Swan-Finch gear oil can

I have a 5 gallon can that I'm trying to identify. The logo is a gear with wings coming out each side. The only wording on it is "Swan-Finch/Established 1853". Because of the gear in the logo I'm assuming it was gear lube. Anyone know anything about this company?
