Information wanted on old stock certificate

Hello,

My name is Dave Koch and I have a question I was wondering if anyone could help me out? My father recently passed away, and while we were going through his belongings came across a certificate for some shares he purchased while he worked in Alaska. My father moved to Alaska for a few years after he got out of the service to operate heavy equipment on various projects. We found this stock certificate that he received from the “Alaska Oil and Gas Development Co., Inc.” for $1 per share. The date on the certificate is May 12th, 1953 and was issued from Anchorage. It has what looks like a stamped signature of the president O.S. Shield - or something close to that. The secretaries signature looks to be a personal signature and is William A. O’Niel.

Does anyone know of any such company or if they are still in existence? Any information that you could pass along would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
