Powerine Oil Company, formerly Rothchild Oil Company, Began
in the oil fields of Santa Fe Springs, Ca. around 1935.
Powerine operated with a capacity of just under 50,000
barrels per day until 1984, when Harry Rothchild decalared
bancruptcy and closed the refinery. In October 1986,
Oscar Smidt,an Austrian investor bought Powerine out
of Bankruptcy and continued to operate until June of 1996.
The refinery has recently been purchased by Cenco Petroleum, Inc.
and rumors tie Pat Robertson, the evangelist, to the refinery.
