Hello. I recently found this and wanted to know some history on it. It has a metal pour spout that is 5 1/2 inches tall that screws onto a glass bottle. The spout has "Brookins" "Cinncinati Ball Crank Co. CIN O USA" around the base. The bottle is in perfect condition. It is one quart. It has a seal on the engraved on the front that has "Huffman - The Huffman Mfg. Co. Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. Equipment and fittings" There is a small square above the seal that is "MASS 0 - 6 - B Seal" On the back it is engraved "PA 0-1-3, Approved No. H-28" Then there is a triangle below it with "60 MINN".
There is two wavy lines on the bottom of the glass. On the back in small letters at the bottom is "Duraglass". On the bottom of the glass is an oval with a shape that looks like an eye. The number 7 is to the left of this shape, the number 8 to the top, and the number 2 to the right of the shape. I just wanted to know the history. I really don't know what I'm going to do with it. Thanks, crstimbo

I'm not an expert - but I have a few glass quarts in my collection.
What you have is a 1-quart early glass 'oil can'. This particular piece was made by/for Huffman in Ohio. Duraglass is a type of glass used in these bottles for durability.
These would have been filled and re-filled from a lubester and put into a metal rack of some kind to display out at the pumps. The racks usually held 6 or 8 quarts.
The spout is a 'Brookins', which is one of numerous manufactures of oil spouts in the 20's - 40's. These types of oil containers were used up to the 50's as I understand.
The 'MASS', 'MINN' & "PA" markings are approvals from the respective states. They indicate that the specific state verified that if you filled it to the line indicated, you had a full measure quart of oil. I'm not sure what the embossing on the bottom means, possibably the mold indication from the forming process.
They are available on E-bay all the time. You can check out the current pricing by watching a couple of them sell. Jim
