My name is Lance Skoreyko, I'm 38 and Live in Armstrong, British Columbia, top of the Okanagan Valley, home of the World Famous Ogopogo, that is where the name Pogogas came from. I married my High School sweetheart Patricia, and we'll be married 19 years in August, she doesn't love this stuff as much as me, but she loves how much I love it. We have 2 kids, Bridgette 16 & Spencer 15, they are both great kids, they are polite, courtious and hard working, amongst other things I'm proud to say they and have been involved with Karate for 9 years, attending and winning many regional, and national tournaments. Bridgette recieved here Brown belt in Decmeber (You must be 16 to apply) I make Limited Edition Gas Pump globes for a living, the rest of the time I do whatever comes along, and believe Luck is preparation meeting opportunity. I was in the sign business for 15 years when ebay came along and distracted me, I spent 3 years trying to figure out how to combine the Internet, my passion for petro and my skills as a trained commercial artist, then I found globes, and I love it.
My favorite company is Gilmore, others have caught my eye over the years, but I always come back to the Lion, I still stare at the cover of the book Check the Oil that my wife bought me in 1986, that is where it all started. My favorite pump is more of a category, round dial clockfaces, and that is what I collect, I own a Wayne 730, Wayne 800, Tokheim 850 and a Canadian Ecometer, I've had others but eventually sold them. There are 6 more on my wish list, and I'm always on the hunt for the next pump. I'm looking for the following, National Simplex, National Duplex, American 187, Erie 53, Boyle Dayton 1950 and a Dayton 900. I have other pumps as well, but they don't count, I'm just reatoring a bowser c-81 with my son for the front yard, its his first pump resto. I also collect photographs, service stations and gas pumps, someday I hope to publish a book of photos. I don't want to just fill the pages, I want nothing but the coolest stations and the rarest pumps, more eye candy than history. I'm aiming for 2025, do you think they will still collect Gas and Oil in 2025? This was fun, its almost as good as a meet and greet, c'mon the rest of you, let's here whats make you tick, and smile......... This is me in front of a 1938 Ford Cabover I had last year. My name is Jason Roach. I am 31 years old and am married to my beautiful high school sweetheart Tasha. We have been together for over 13 years and married for almost 8. We have 2 beautiful children; Rachael, who is 5 and Hayden, who is 2 years old. We live on a few acres in the small country town of Wilton, CA (near Sacramento). I own a dental practice in Galt and I love my job. The staff at my office are like family and it makes work a blast when you enjoy the people around you Obviously, I like Polly gas stuff. However, it’s been hard to find original polly stuff out there. Pumps are my favorite petro items to collect. Mainly because they are fun to fix up, just like fixing up teeth. HA HA. I really like signs and globes as well and think some quartcans are pretty cool also. I enjoy collecting a little of everything from the companies I like: Polly, Johnson, Signal, Texaco, and Wilshire brands. I hope to decorate my office in antique/petro related items in the future. I just have to get enough pumps restored to fill all the rooms in the office, and the signs and quartcans to complete the package. The ultimate find for me would be an original polly pump that was in good enough condition to leave as original. It will probably never happen, but it doesn’t hurt to dream. My favorite pump is definitely the Wayne 800. Tokheim 850 is another favorite and of course the Wayne 60 (866). Oh yeah, and pretty much any visible pump. It has been enjoyable being a part of this site due to the vast amount of information that is available. Thanks again. This is a great thread. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hello everyone, My name is John McFarland, but my friends call me "Mac". I'm 35 years old. I dated my ex-wife for 7 years before marrying her and was with her for another 6 years before getting divorced in 1995. I sell deregulated electricity and natural gas for a living. I have no children, but my ex did let me keep "Max" my German Shepherd that we bought together when we were first dating. The dog is old now, but good company. I've always been interested in pumps and always wanted one, but was always buying and restoring old cars and trucks: 1950 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup, 1951 Chevy 1/2 ton, and 1952 Chevy 3/4 ton (5 window) and 1966 Mustang. When my father retired last year, I sold the 51 and 52 pickups and bought him a 1986 Corvette (Red) with 18,000 documented original miles. He always wanted one and I thought it would be cool to give him something that he would never buy for himself. I bought my first pump, a Gilbert & Barker 96B, last spring and restored it to Mobil Special. I recently bought my second pump, a really straight Wayne 60 and I can't wait to get started on it. I really enjoy this site and seeing what others are doing and what they collect. The people on this site are extremely helpful. Mac IP: Logged |

Obviously my name is Seth Robbins. Ebay handle is Dealfinders. I am 27 years old and have been in the reproduction gas pump parts business for 7 years. My wife's name is Melynn, we've been married for almost 8 years. We have 4 kids, 3 boys/1 girl. Most of you know that we own Vic's '66' aka Vic's Place. It is a mail-order pump parts business & we also sell related decor, original signs / globes/ pumps/ cans....you name it!! I don't get to do as much of it as I would like (too much administration, inventory, etc), but I really enjoy the hands-on pump building, either repo or original. Nothing like the satisfaction of starting & finishing a restoration. I am a born-again Christian, my dad (who also builds pumps) is a minister of 22 years. Him, myself, & my brother do all of our restoration work. We have a great time together. I also love to do the Goodguys/NSRA shows in the summers with all of my kids. We have a Renegade Toter-Home & 40' Pace that we run all over the country all six of us. It's good for my boys to see how dad buys the food!! I've been on oldgas.com since around 1999 when there were like 250 members. I used to get chastised by people for trying to sell too hard, that was pre-FOR SALE area. I am a big fan of oldgas & so is my brother (Zach Robbins) & my sister (Petrogirl, who is my secretary/graphic designer). IP: Logged |

My name is Chris Jaworski and I live in Longmont, Colorado. I'm 34 years old. Single. I work as a Moldmaker and work part time on weekends at an antique store in Denver. I have been collecting petro stuff since 1992 when I found an old Texaco (The Texas Company) 1 lb. grease can at my grandfathers estate auction in Nebraska and had to have it. I started collecting oil cans and then that led me into pumps and signs and globes. Mostly my intrests are in oil companies from Colorado and Nebraska. My favorite company is Frontier and I do whatever I can to afford what I can when it comes to Frontier. Items I'd love to own someday...Pump-Wayne 60...Globe-Frontier globe with rider wearing the red plaid shirt...Sign-Powerlube...Can-Frontier Penn one quart. I've heard it exists but have never seen one. Enough about me. Lets hear from some more of you Petroheads! chris IP: Logged |

Hey Guys, My name is Paul Granniss. I'm 55 and work as a Financial Analyst for ChevronTexaco in Houston. I've been married twice, this time for 14 years. Must have a good wife, she puts up with my hobby...but I do have to hear "You're always on the computer!" She also likes to complain about the Texas weather and remind me how nice it was in California!! We'll get back there some day. My eBay handle is "Chevtex". I collect mostly signs and pump plates with a few oilers and maps thrown in. Since I work for Chevron, I look for Standard of Cal and Chevron signs. However, my favorite company is Flying A and I especially look for pump signs from any of the defunct independents. I don't have any pumps but would like to have a Wayne 60 or National A-38 someday, done in Chevron. That's when I retire and settle into that "last home". My ultimate find would be to stumble on to a mint Sunset sign or Mohawk neon. We can still dream, right?? I've only been posting to Old Gas for a short time but it's a great site. Kudos to Jim Potts and the other moderators for maintaining such a first class resource for the hobby!! Paul IP: Logged |

Autoartist, aka Lee Brenneison, is 61, heads up the visual art department of an all-girls private high school, has been married to Jean for 38 years, has a daughter Tori who is a freshman at Maine College of Art (Takes after her old man!)and used to make a bunch of the cans that are now sitting on the shelves of some of the folks reading this. During college in the 60s I worked for National Can Co. in Cleveland. We made tons of metal quarts for Valvolene, Sohio, and a thousand private labels. There were some big re-refiners around here then. We also made 2 gal & 10 qt cans for Gulf and others. Wish I had some of the ones we made to give to you fellows. See, I'm not really a petro collector. My weakness is British sports cars (Lotus, Elva, Austin, etc.) and paintings and prints of cars. I also used to paint canvases of race cars, some of my paintings belong to Mario Andretti, Brian Redman, Auggie Pabst, and a bunch of other old drivers I have vintage raced with...thus autoartist. While collecting car parts I ended up with a Cleveland Premium globe from England. Then a Gulf and Gilmore repop showed up so I "had" to get a Gilbarco 96 to put under the Gulf globe. Yeah, I'm not really a collector but this is a great, friendly site to hang at. IP: Logged |

Name is Ken Lally, go by KWILAL on most boards. 49 years of age, single, work as a maintenance mechanic in a chemical factory in Chicago's south suburbs. Love guns, Harleys and oldgas stuff. Only have one pump, a Tokheim 36B, guess I got real lucky on my first try. Found an abandoned bar/bait shop near our summer home in NW Wisconsin about 15 years ago. While looking around I noticed a few old beer signs and thermometers inside so decided to come back the next day and "borrow" a few of them. Came back the next day with my dad (needed a lookout) but all signs were gone. Dad said "what about that old gas pump over there?" I saw an old pump and decided what the hell, maybe I can fix it up. Came back later that summer with a friend and grabbed the pump but it was too heavy to get in the back of his Camaro so we came back the next night with a hacksaw and removed the pump from inside. Still weighed a ton and dented the roof of my car bringing it home. Turned out someone had painted the whole thing green with a paintbrush which was a blessing, as the ad glasses were spared the rock throwing of any local youths. Had a buddy paint it red after seeing that was the original color, and the ad glasses turned out to be for DX gasoline. The painted parts sat around the garage for a decade until about two years ago when one day at work a co-worker came in with a hot rod magazine and while looking through it I noticed an ad for Vic's Garage selling gas pump parts. A trip to the internet site found all the nice shiny trim parts I needed to complete the pump (thanks Seth). I found a reduced speed motor for $10 from Northern Tool and with a few gears out of a water meter from work I got the pump computer spinning and dinging away, thanks to a micro switch I placed in the Tokheim nozzle under the cap. A $20 hairdryer from K-Mart finished off the pump by turning the flowmeter propeller whenever the handle is squeezed. Naturally I kept it in DX hardware as that's what it originally was. I've since gone on a DX binge and started collecting all things DX. My DX oil can collection, which I figured would consist of a dozen or so cans has now topped 40 different cans and there's stil a few I know I'm missing. Anyway, it's been fun so far and I enjoy just sitting back and learning from the more seasoned collectors here. Got my eye on a couple new pumps I'd like to have and with the mortgage being paid off in a year it shouldn't be too long. Thanks to all for this site. Ken IP: Logged |

I feel like we are going around the circle at a Petroholics Anonymous meeting and it's my turn.(rev 3-8-06) Hello OldGasser Pals, If you'd like to know my name, town, etc. just send me an email, I've got nothing to hide but for business and personal reasons I like to keep a low profile. I'm almost 40, married for 17 years to a great gal, we have two boys and they all tolerate my hobby, which is grabbing up and displaying whatever petro items I think look cool..I love porcelain signs, only have two globes and some cans. A customer gave me a pump and a globe, another an air meter, I paid to have the pump restored and here we are, now have 4 more. My brother and I own a business started by our grandfather, we sell and service petroleum equipment, tanks, pumps, canopies, etc. We were Tokheim distributors for 40 some years (hence Tokheim) and when they went bankrupt looked at Gilbarco and Wayne and chose Wayne. I enjoy the Harley, 4-wheeler, fishing, skiing, hunting, camping and outdoor fun with or without the family. Oh, by the way this site and you guys are great, I have learned quite alot and been individually helped out by some of you, have bought some things from guys here, and helped some find some stuff. Hope to meet more of you soon! [This message has been edited by tokheim (edited 03-08-2006).] IP: Logged |
