Whew, I've spent the last hour and three cups of coffee reading this topic so here goes. Rod Thomas, 56 [already?] semi retired sign painter. The computers made me an obsolete person. Been married to Denice for twenty one years. There are three adult step children and enough grand children for a football team. I've been in the antique auto hobby for over thirty years and eventually drifted into the petro stuff about 10-12 years ago. Thus came the hobby of repairing signs and restoring gas pumps. A Wayne 70 was my first purchase. My wife thought a gas pump beside the garage would be unique. [guess who found the pump] That pump has been re-restored once. Four more restorations, all sold. One current and two for someone else. Seven total since the first one. Our collections include license plates, signs, oil cans, whiz cans, and a big Pepsi collection. I don't have a favorite Co. or a favorite gas pump but would like to restore a clock face of some sort. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Wes Worsham here. I grew up in Shreveport, LA, and always did have an interest in oil. Growing up in an area with working pump jacks and on-site distillers and tanks everywhere, it was hard not to be fascinated. I go to school now in Terre Haute, Indiana. Through college, I collected up a few old oil cans, but it wasn't till the 2005 Indiana Gas show that I really got the addiction. I now have four pumps, two grease/gearoil pumps, and lots and lots of cans. Two globes too... I'm trying to concentrate my can collecting on Diamond and DX, with an emphasis on the older stuff. For pumps, I tend to like the unusual. Mainly previsibles, with the exception of one or two visibles that I like (Groetken, anything with a lot of cast iron). I like electrics, but only the very unique ones... I enjoy roving around the countryside looking for rust, and snapping photos of petro and auto relics. Catch some of my pictures on F.A.T.W. in the Showcase section sometime... Well, happy hunting! IP: Logged |

I'm Brian Lange 36 years of age. Been collecting for about 7 or 8 years, it's hard to keep track. I collect mostly Clock-face pumps, started with Texaco oil cans, moved to globes and stuck on clocks. Kristin and I have a 9 year old Haley, we have been together for 11 years. She has 2 kids from a prior relationship, Kimberlin 14 and Nathan 12. I work for Square D Co., as a Boiler Fire Watchman, in the Machinist Union. I run the boilers, air conditioning system, air compressors, valves, and make fire rounds, love the job, hate the hours. We have to be their 24/7 365 day a year. Swing shift. Glad to be apart of Oldgas. Brian IP: Logged |

My favorite pumps are what I consider the "HOLY GRAILS" of pumps that a normal collection could get, they are the Cut Wayne 60's, Tokheim 36B's and the Fry May West’s. Every hardcore collector should have one of each in their collection. My favorite gas companies are Red Crown and anything Indian...

Hi gang...my name is Kelly Clark, I am 26 years old and have been married to my wonderful husband (I hope he reads this) for 5 years. We have not yet been blessed with children although are trying...er I mean practicing...you probably don't need to know that...Sorry, anyway, my husband is getting into this hobby as well since my dad and I have been collecting for many years now. My favorite things are pumps and signs...and globes...and cans, heck just about everything. My favorite companies are with out a doubt Clark (for obvious reasons) and Dixie! My best buy ever was a 1 piece Sinclair Oil etched globe that a guy sold me for $75 cause he thought it was ugly. I'm blessed to have all of the things I have and hope to keep adding to it. I also am not like most wives as our house is full of signs, pumps, cans, pedal tractors, and a newly aquired barber chair (thanks Rex!) This was a great idea...makes me feel like I really know some of you! See you at the shows ![]() IP: Logged |

Favorite companies are Associated, Gilmore, General Petroleum and Union, pre war stuff only. I have about 20 pumps to restore, all differnt kinds. My ultimate find was a neon Flying A sign that I got last year. I'm finishing up a 20 by 40 room to house stuff. I also collect auto related diplays and signs especially pre 30. Glad to meet you all! My name is Brent Smith and I live in Tyler, TX. I am 47 years old and have been married to my wife Vicki for 20 years. We have 2 kids, Stephen and Christopher. Stephen is 18 and in his first year of college. Chris is 12. My family is the most important thing to me. I am an independent sales rep. I work with 2 other guys and we represent about 30 companies in the housewares and lawn and garden industry selling to grocery stores, dept stores, etc. We are fortunate to have good lines and very good customers. I was fortunate enough to build a new house this past year and more fortunate to be able to build a pretty large shop, 30 x 50. I have a 1970 Chevelle SS, all original matching numbers. That was primarily the reason for the shop, I am going to do a frame off on it someday. But, I bought my first sign last March for shop decor and have been hooked ever since. I like primarily Chevrolet and gas and oil signs to put up in my shop. I really don't have a favorite brand, I like them all. I hope to be able to someday find an original Chevrolet Sales and Service sign that I can afford! I have recently purchased a couple of Wayne 80 gas pumps and am trying my hand at restoring them. I really have enjoyed this bulletin board, everyone is very helpful and willing to share their knowledge. If anybody ever gets to my neck of the woods, please let me know. I would love to meet some of you in person. I am even going to be brave enough to post a picture! Thanks, IP: Logged |
