Hello everyone. Those of you that have been around have all heard the story – but I’ll repeat it for the new members. My name is Jim Treadway. I’m married to Jodi (T-way’s Keeper on this site). We’ve been married for going on 12 years now. I have two sons from a previous marriage, Leo and Zane. Leo is in college in Columbus Illinois at DeVry University right now with about a year to go on his degree. Zane died last August. We live in a 110+ year-old farm house with a few out buildings. Those that read daily will hear me mention the ‘Coop’ quite regularly. It’s the largest out-building on the property at over 3,000 sq ft. I have a Auto Shop/Paint area of 1,200 sq ft in the back with a small 110 sq ft Art Studio next to that. The rest of the building is filled with a storage area and a Display Room for my collection. (Jodi doesn’t allow my ‘rust’ inside. LOL). I mostly collect pumps and lubesters. I have about 17 pumps now and 7 lubesters. As usual, I also have a globe or two, signs and cans, and misc. smalls. I work for General Motors at the GM Technical Center in Warren Michigan. Jodi is a CFO of a Tier One supplier to the major automotive companies. Jodi and I also run T-way’s Graphic F/X, Inc. We specialize in Limited-Edition gas globe lenses and Stainless Steel Trim - and we have a ton of decals available too. In addition we do one-off custom decals and ad glass for our customers. I’ve made a bunch of great friends on this site and read it daily. I look forward to the upcoming Gas Bash season so I can catch up with them at the various shows. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say “Hi!”. Later . . . Jim ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi, my name is Roger Cherry, I am 42 years old, and live in Memphis, Tn. Bought a house about 16 years ago and always was into hot rods so I wanted to start to decorate the garage. After hitting all the fea markets and antique stores dragging home junk signs I decided I wanted to get into collecting more seriously. Sold off alot of low end stuff and got bit by the globe bug. I collect high-end globes and signs now. I will step up for the right piece. Still into cars and have a ERA 427 Cobra replica with a toploader and a jag rearend. Motor is correct 427 although not a side-oiler. I have a lovely high-maintaince wife (ha-ha), and a 12 year old daughter, going on 21. I also have a 6 year old son developing a interest in collecting also. My family and I are in the process of building a new house in the next county out from Memphis to get away from some of the crime and goings on of the big city. I work as an outside sales rep for a nut, bolt, electrical distributor. We are also the Hilti tool distributor for 23 counties around where I live. My wife is an outside rep for a local lumber yard. She tolerates my collecting and also tollerates me, so thats good also. I have been collecting about 13 or 14 years, love the people, especially ones on old gas. I sometimes don't like the politics but that goes with any hobby I guess. Any time anyone here on old gas is in the Memphis area you are WELCOME to stop by and see me!!!!!!!!!! IP: Logged |

Hey everyone. I'm, well, you guessed it, Chris Bowers. I'm 24 and live in Northern Virginia, although I spend some time up around Baltimore as well, which is where I grew up and where my girlfriend of two years' family resides as well (she lives down here too). I started collecting when I was 12 when my family drove by Wayne Story's place in VA and the signs and pumps caught my eye. Never looked back since. I usually collect on a budget, but I've found some neat stuff over the years. I have 6 pumps, including a Clearvision 10 gallon visible with an etched cylinder. That one's my baby. The rest are 1940s-50s electrics. I also collect signs, cans (mostly Texaco) and soda machines (have a few coke, pepsi, etc). I'd love to get my hands on a nice clockface one of these days, although it eludes my budget currently. I always dream of finding great stuff in the wild, but unfortunately in my area there isn't much "wild" left. When I'm not working (as a marketing manager for a company called Simply Wireless) I'm either working on projects (redid a 66 mustang hardtop), looking for gas stuff, fishing or skiing. Its been a pleasure getting to know some of you and hope to get to know even more. IP: Logged |

Hello: My name is Rich Taylor but go by taylorx3 on eBay and Rich 44 on Aumann. I have been married to my wife Judy for 37 years. We have two sons, one is a High School teacher the other is a project manager for IBM and one grand son of three months. I am retired from Pac Bell and a land lord. I worked for Standard Stations INC. in 1962 and 63; my first job. I was a lead man service station attendant when I left the company and liked working for Standard during the golden years of the service station. Went into the Air Force for four years and was a Crew Chief for the C130 and C141 aircraft before going to work for Pac Bell. The gas hobby bug bit me about ten years ago; but I have been a V8 Ford and Chev collectible car hobbyiest for years along with some signs for the garage. My friend Mike Hackett fixed his garage up for his gas collection and he was looking for a certain Standard map; I found the map, bought it for him and than I got hooked. I mostly have Standard West Coast ( trying to relive my youth HA ) but probably have something from all the oil companys. I like the old maps, signs, cans, pumps, globes, small stuff etc. I have one pump, a A38 in Standard colors restored by Bill Stevens of San Jose. I enjoy the old gas site stories, pictures and just started to post pictures under Rich Taylor Garage. The guys and gals are great in this hobby. IP: Logged |

Hi Again everybody. I thought I would bring this back to the top and properly introduce myself. My name is Ken Bird and I'm from Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada. I will be 44 years old in about a month and a half. My wife Nancy and I have been married 10 years this coming October,we have no kids, but we have SEVEN DOGS!! You can imagine what the back yard looks like. They are all Poodles. 3 Standards, 2 Miniatures, and 2 Toys. I am a Bodyman/painter by trade, in the trade going on 26 years, right out of School. I am currently the Production Manager at a Chrysler dealership Collision center here in Saskatoon, where I have been employed for the last 15 years. I have been into cars my whole life, at least that is what my family tells me. Growing up on the farm with 2 older brothers helped fuel the fire for that passion too, always something to work on or to fix. I got into collecting petro.tems about 5 or so years ago. While attending a local car show, someone had a gas station display there, and that is what started it. As most of you noticed already, I tend to lean towards the British American line, along with WhiteRose. I do have a little bit of other lines as well. I like mostly the '50's electric pumps but if I can get ahold of any others I will surely take them to, also signs and pretty much anything with the B/A logo on it. I think that is about it, for now anyway. Ken. IP: Logged |

My name is Robert, I'm 16 and I'm a landscaper and carpenter and I'm an extremely hard worker, I basically work every day doing anything manual labor. I have 1 brother, 1 step-brother, a sister, and a step-sister. None of my siblings like this kind of stuff though they consider it as a waste of money and that it's a bunch of **** but I think they just dont have good taste. I buy what I can afford which isnt much. My favorite pump is a Wayne 60 done in Gilmore. My favorite company would be Oilzum. My greatest find would have to be my step-dads 1969 Plymouth GTX Hemi he had when he was 19 because the car is untouchable you simply cant have a better car in my point of view or a 56 bel air convertible which thats also untouchable because you cant buy a better looking convertible then that. And you can't beat my highschool's bbq chicken BBQ Chicken. Its unbeatable. sslick68 Briggs and Straton gave me a BRAND NEW ENGINE to replace my defective engine because the governor(don't know how you spell it but you know what I mean) was defected and ruined the whole engine. Engine was 4 years old so I was happy as can be because thats a brand new engine with all the outside componets. Well, 4 days ago I was cutting this woman's lawn and that brand new engine which hasnt even been in there a month yet COMPLETELY QUIT ON ME. GRRR! Well its 11:19 and I got school tomrrow so I guess I'm done. Robert [This message has been edited by MrMoneyClips (edited 03-27-2007).] IP: Logged |

This is a great idea..so here is my info...My name is Robert Usrey, I'm 44 and have a son 10 years old. I have been into the petroliana items now for about 15 years, and I owned a restoration business back in the late 90's, Roadside Restorations. I joined this forum in 1997. Divorced in 1998, and changed careers, and now I am an oil gas platform production operator in the Gulf of Mexico. Recently moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, heart of Cajun territory. I have been away from the hobby since '98, and after the stress and turmoil of Hurricane Rita, my better half, Melinda, suggested that I delve back into the game. A once large collection is now just a few items, but currently working on a gilbarco 1006 which will contain a 20 inch tv and a home theater system, with a custom LSU tiger stripe paint scheme. It REALLY helps when your better half LOVES and appreciates petroliana as much as you do!!!! Favorite pump..Tokheim 871 clockface, Favorite company..Magnolia. Someday will own the grand slam...36B/wayne 60/A-38. God bless! IP: Logged |

Hi. My name is Dave Folck age 57. I retired early from Farmers Insurance Company where I was a Senior Claims Rep for homeowner claims. Working at that job after the 1994 Northridge, CA earthquake was a real trip!!! The money just flew out of the claims department. I gave away more money in the two years after the 'quake than Monty Hall ever did on Let's Make A Deal. I live in Simi Valley, CA in a great little house in the southern foothills of the Santa Susanna Mountains. I am doing cosmetic upgrades to the place and really enjoying that. I have three kids and two grandkids none of whom are in to petroliana!!! At least they can all pump their own gas--LOL. I like the late 30's electric pumps. I have about...8 unrestored pumps (3 Tall Tokheim 39s, 4 Wayne 70s, and a Gilbarco 96C) that I hope to start working on to sell for a small profit. I restored and sold 6 pumps last year and several lubesters matching lubesters. I have 3 unrestored lubesters right now. I also have two gorgeous restorable G & B t-176's (from Oklahoma)with perfect original blue glass cylinders that will get the full resto treatment. One will be in White Eagle Ethyl colors. I am a sucker for White Eagle lollypop driveway signs. I have one that the Van Kannen Brothers restored to museum quality. I may look for other solid lollypop signs that can be restored. My Grandfather, Forrest Folck, owned the White Eagle station in Little River, Kansas in the 20's until 1935 when he sold to Socony. Cool hobby. Nice people on this site. I am dlfolck@adelphia.net Remember to drink your Ovaltine!!! [This message has been edited by tallgye49 (edited 11-06-2006).] IP: Logged |

Hey everybody, my name is Mick Wooton and I live in Trenton, Ohio, with my wife of 23 years, Cokey. Cokey teaches a primary, multi-handicapped class for the local school system. I am a retired Dir of Operations for a company of around 430 employees. I started traveling with friends who have been in this hobby for many years and before I knew it I was hooked. My main interest is pumps, I have 5 right now, 2 Tokheim visibles, 1 Wayne 60, 1 Tokheim 39 shorty and a M&S 80. I have started restoring the visibles and have all the necessary parts needed to finish them. Won't be long and I will need a few more. I check the site every day and especially appreciate the amount of help received by other users. I didn't mention that I am 64 yrs old but I feel much younger, thanks to this hobby. Drop me a line at mickwooton@sbcglobal.net or if you are in southwestern Ohio, stop and see us. [This message has been edited by aquartlow (edited 11-02-2006).] IP: Logged |
