Several months ago one of our members posted this identical thing. I thought it was a great idea, it added a lot of positive knowledge to this group, giving personalities to just the otherwise screen names we are limited to.
Let each other know more about you, for example;

* your occupation
* introduce your family
* your petro collection specialties
* the ultimate find you one day hope to
attain
* your favorite pump
* your favorite company
* etc.

I hope this flies as well as it did last time. I can't remember who initially posted this idea then but I sure thought it was neat!

Great idea Neal.
My name is Bob Drake. I'm a residential remodeling contractor. I'm 45 and I've been married for 25+ years. My youngest son is almost 21. My oldest would have been 23 this year. I collect globes, stuff from Sinclair, and Standard (Ind). My ultimate collectible would be a porcelain gas station. Bennett 541 or Wayne 60 are my favorite pumps, but I'm not really a pump guy. Did I mention that I like globes?

My name is aquaelvis... errr wait my name is Jeff Houston. My alter-ego is aquaelvis.
I am 33 years old, been married to Rachel for 7 years. (been together for 13 total)
No kids yet... still working on that. I don't have a job in Seattle yet. I was a swimming pool contractor in So Cal until the move to Seattle in Dec. 2004. I am currently looking for a train wreck of a house to buy. My brother is a Realtor and we are going to do a remodel and then re-sell the house. If the first one works out well, there will be a second. If not, I will be looking for a job again.
I am also a breeder of rare pythons. I am expecting the first eggs on 2005 in a few weeks.
As for petro- I buy what I can afford. I love pumps. I don't have any cool signs or original globes yet. I like the pumps too much to spend money on anythig but them. I have some cool smalls and some cans. I am looking at just picking up nice stuff from West Coast companies. When the collection is ready for the world to see it will be mainly a pump tour. My favorite company is Sunset. My favorite pump... who can say? Wayne 50 is high on the list, who doesn't love the wayne 60... can't forget the tokheim 850 either. Who am I kidding... I love all pumps!
The ultimate find is any original West Coast stuff that I can get farm fresh... that way I can afford it or Gas Pump Rob's pump barn... that would be a long day of moving

My name is Dean Balduff.I'm the grounds foreman at Hinsdale South High School in Darien,IL. I will be 44 the end of this month.My wife Jackie and I have been married for 20 years and we have 2 children,Brenna(15) and Dustin(13).Most of you see me with my "partner" Dusty at auctions and swap meets.We collect and restore pumps and occasionally signs.Our lastest project was doing our basement in a petro/auto theme.Maybe if Bob,Jim or Hubba reads this they could post some of the pictures that they took on the tour.I don't really have a favorite company or pump,but I know Dusty really likes GULF items and is in heaven when he goes to Earl's and helps him out with projects.I'm just happy to see my son spend time with good people and learn alot about a hobby that could last a lifetime. Hello , my name is Darren Floughton. I have been called Hubba since i was about 7 years old. The nickname stuck because I use to say "Hubba Hubba" to the pretty ladies..even at that young age I had a fondness for the ladies...LOL. I have been tattooing since 1985 and also am a disc Jockey in night clubs fro about twelve years (Thus "djhubba") I am a specialty dj and only spin: roots rock oldies rockabilly swing surf country blues or any fringe music I think is cool...NO TOP 40 or RAVE JUNK. I have dabbled in stand up Comedy but now just do it at parties for free as the jokes come..LOL. I Have a 13 year old Son named Dakota. I was married to Dakotas Mom briefly...didnt work out. I got remarried to a woman named Ginni who i thought I was gonna spend the rest of my life with but she decided she wanted the dogs and the house and not me or gas pumps anymore so God has a different path for me. I started 15 years ago collecting quart cans...I wasnt on the internet and had to get them at garage sales and flea markets and i was sooo Happy when I would get Don Raleighs list of cans he used to send me via snail mail. I branched a lil into signs I could afford and when I got my first gas pump I loved it...I love pumps a great deal and have amassed a modest collection of cool pumps..maybe like 13 or 14 pumps. I love art deco pumps and clockfaces. I love globes too but only have like 6 originals but would love to get more . I now focus on Mobil and its affiliates...General Gilmore Magnolia..etc. my ultimate goal would be to buy a house for all this junk since my second ex Wife got the house and I got the collection she didnt want anyway. Actually I would love a big warehouse with a living space built in loft of somekind...I really think that would be grreat. I love to drink and do it in moderation unless I am not driving then look out..LOL I love food. I love my friends....LOL I guess I am filled with Love (and theres alot to fill) LOL

I am Brady Bowles, my Ebay and username is 1Petrofan ( not #1 Petrofan, just another Petrofan ). I am 48 years old, married for 14 years, and have one daughter. I am the Customer Service/Scheduling manager at a vinyl manufacturing company servicing the automotive, note-book, and vinyl pool lining industry. I bought my first 5 quart can three years ago - and got hopelessy hooked. I like what most people think is pretty "uncollectable" - plastic signs, as well as lighted canopy signs, 5 quart cans, and my newest love - GAS PUMPS ! I have five, and want ten more. I would love to have a Wayne 60 done up in Atlantic. I would guess my favorite company is Sinclair, no... Gulf, no... Esso, - I really love them all ! I would really like to rebuild an old gas station in my back yard - maybe someday. One of the best things about this hobby is the fellow collectors and what a great bunch of people I now associate with. I am proud to be in this group, and would like to meet everyone. Brady

That Aquaelvis is a handsome young devil! (His wife is cute too.)

My name is Curt Cragg aka The Poor Man, I am a General Building Contractor and Real Estate Broker in Solvang, California. I build custom homes and do some major remodeling. I like romantic evenings and long walks on the beach. Oops, got off track there. I will be 44 in April and have been married to my wife Kathy for over 20 years. We have two children, Byron 13 and Katelyn 10. I grew up in southern California and moved to the Central Coast of California 17 years ago to get away from the traffic and mess.

My father worked in the automotive parts industry for over 30 years (McCord Gaskets) and thus my interest in Petrolania which I have been collecting for about a year and a half.

My job on Oldgas is to provide comic relief along with some occasional serious Petro history and stories.

I am currently collecting signs and specifically pump plates of brands that were available in my local area. I do not collect pumps, but currently own way too many of them because I keep finding them cheap.

I would love to find a rare showcase pump or Seaside sign in an old barn around here that someone wants to give me just because I'm a nice guy. LOL!

That's enough because this is on the internet and someone can now Google my entire life history.

Thunder Checking in....

I am currently fleet maintenance manager & senior driver for a local refuse company. I also own my own company that provides roll-off dumpsters.

Although, not married, I do have another half. She came with a daughter, who is currently 13.

I grew up in Southern California. My first job was working for John & Bill Graham at Graham's Chevron. (Jeeez. I probably threw away a million dollars worth of oil cans, parts boxes, and all kinds of good stuff)

I have a collection of items from the Viet Nam War. As such, Tri-star films contacted me when they were filming Bat-21, looking for flight gear. With the collection I was featured in local newspapers & tv shows. I was also asked by The Brothers of Viet Nam, to bring parts of my collection to their reunions.

I was fortunate enough to meet many of aviations greatest people, as I restored a few aircraft at The Western Museum of Flight. www.wmof.com Check out the YF-17 & A-4. At that same time I was employed by Northrop A.S.D. working on the B-2 bomber. (God bless America & Support our troops)

I later got involved in the horse industry. Horse shows, parades & performances soon became normal routine. Cal Poly Pomona became my stomping grounds, as well as a lot of arenas & show grounds.

A trip to Colorado, and I was looking to move. Last count was 7 horses... Oooops....
Last count was 4 gas pumps.

Although I dont have a FAVORITE company. I am restoring my Gilbarco 96 in it's original Chevron Supreme colors. I should probably be doing some research into the Denver based companies. Rarin' to Go.... But that Pegasus, that my mother-in-law gave me, looks pretty good on the wall in the game room...

I've only been at this "Petrolania" stuff a few months. But it has provided me with many hours of enjoyment, new friends, and many, many, humerous phone calls. Thanks guys....

Future plans..... Lots of stuff. Maybe someday I'll make the papers again. This time, next to my Tokheim 36B. But really, a shop is in the near future. Hopefully like an old service station. Maybe that old Tokheim 39A will be pumping the fuel.

And before you ask Dick... NO... You can't have the top...

If you love your freedom, thank a vet. If you love anything else, thank a trucker!

My real name is Jim Potts. My eBay name is digitalgas. I am 57 and have been a collision repair technician "bodyman" for 37 years, 32 at the same place. I married Maureen in 1972 and have two grown and married daughters with two grandkids and one more on the way soon. More family stuff.
My main collecting specialty is body shop memorabilia, mostly auto paint related cans and signs. I also collect Zephyr Gas and Bardahl memorabilia.
My ultimate find is a place to display all this stuff I am accumulating. An old station or a building I could make look like an old station.
I like a lot of different pumps. Wayne 60 or 866 for the many different ways it can be painted. Erie Cash Recorder for its ability to make me stop and stare. MS-80 for all those configurations. Wayne 511 blender because it reminds me of my old racing days using Sunoco 260. Any pumps that are a little odd. I could go on...

My real name is "gas pump freak", some people call me Neal Dunn though. Well now that I've been through a moment of humor, here's the facts;

I am 47 years old, married to the same tough woman for 28 years, I have two grown children, a son 25 and a daughter 23. Our son is trying to get into law school (business law, not ambulance chasing thank goodness), our daughter is an RN.
Back to my son, he's a good boy that has spent many years in college, some productive, some not so. I can say though that he has as many degrees as a thermometer.

I am retired from the electric motor repair business. I sold my business about three years ago. I then started a one-man-show to keep me busy and keep me in pocket change. That business is called Hanover Electric Infrared, I go into industrial sites and basically look at electrical devices under load and report the problems I find. When I started this business I was shooting to work around 20 hours a week but it has gone way over that. For example, I want to stick with the oldgas project pump and get it knocked out. Last week I worked 78 hours, mainly due to a big 5 week job that I'm about a week from finishing up. After that WATCH OUT GAS PUMPS, YOU'RE GONNA GET TINKERED WITH!!

I've been collecting petro items about 2 years, I started with pumps, then cans, a few signs and am now climbing into the globe arena. I currently have 25 pumps, one of each from a G&B 177 to a Tokheim 300.
My favorite pump is a Wayne 60, my 2nd is a Bennett 541. I have also fallen in love with ALL clockface pumps.

My ultimate pump would be any Erie clockface. I don't know enough about cans, signs or globes to know what Eureka would be regarding those. Maybe one day though!
Basically if it is related to a service station I love it, no matter what it is.

Take care all!!

Neal

The name, Scott Wright although my wife and daughter just call me scootdog I am not sure why but I hope its good. I work in IT software sales for a large HR company. I use the petro hobby as my outlet. I have been married for five years too the most beatiful girl in the world and she has blessed me with a 2 year old princess and a son on the way (june).

I use the petro hobby as my outlet as it has nothing to do with my 'day' job. I collect a little of everything but I really love the pumps. The next pump is for the little guys room and I think it will be Clipper gas. My dad and I started with the petro bug about ten years ago when we were decorating his basement and from there it just took off. One summer I put 50k miles drive all around Colorado to buy more and more pumps and then helped pay for college. The best find was a pump I sold to Dave Bowman then some day I hope to buy back. It was a American cash recorder that still had the original paint in AWESOME shape. It even had the extra of dials for when the price of gas changed. I need to email dave with an offer he can't refuse...

Favorite pump is the Wayne 800 and favorite company is Powerlube.

I can't wait till I get to pass my rust on to my son and teach him the art of spotting pumps at 70MPH on a dirt road LOL

Scott Wright

My name is Brandon Esgar I am 30 years old, been married to the best woman ever for 7, and togather for 13. My pride and joy is my 2yr old daughter. I am a automotive machinist, and car hobbiest. I was getting tired of cars and was watching my dad collect this rusted junk, and then it happened last April I bought my first pump and it has been downhill since. It has been almost a year and I have been lucky I have managed to collect roughly 25 pumps, 5 clock faces, 2-850, 1- 851 1-gb97, and a rheem 34 I have not seen in persone. For the most part I have been in the rite place at the rite time. Only 3 orrignal globes nothing special, must not be many in this area. Only a few signs, like pumps better. No preferance on company but lean towards the west coast stuff. I really enjoy restoring pumps they are just the rite ammount of work to do, unlike auto restos. Well enough about me good luck and enjoy the hobby.

When I started I was lucky enough to stumble across this site and have meet nothing but top notch people who are kind enough to help in many ways. I appreciate all the help!
