I drive past this quite frequently. It looks like an old Gas sign that might have been repainted. Any ideas as to what it might be?

Well, I dont think its a Texaco, because its oval, maybe Esso shaped. Its hard to tell at this angle. What it is, is a sign that was put up on an old land development that never sold. The sign is painted. I'm wondering if its painted over porcelan. There is two of them, and I am hoping to get them both. I'll get back in there for a better angle in the next few days...

Thunder, if you get a close look at an angle and catch the sunlight just right, you should be able to "read" the porcelin print under the paint. The letters should stand out just a bit. Brady

Texaco Tydol HC Sinclair Gulf who knows. But I will go with everyone else & say Texaco

If it is oval it could be Standard American Esso etc.

I hope it's a BEELINE, there would be enough DROOLING in Colo. to flood the eastern side of the state.

Dick is close, its a bee-hive! I walked up to that sign a few years ago and it was humming with bees. After looking at it for a while I decided it was a standard sign if it even has the orignal sign in it. There is a lot of rust on the sign surface so I am guessing the original sign is gone. Good luck thunder, I bet they will let you buy them. If you need a hand loading them let me know.

BTW it is oval for sure!

I think I figgered (east texas pronunciation) it out...it's some kind of round or oval sign advertising something for sale. That was easy to figger out!

I hope you're able to get it and hope it's something good. Good luck!

Be careful and look close, their might NOT be a porcelain sign there at all. Judging from the signs rust colored appearance, this may very well be the case.

In my greener days of collecting, I cut down a Texaco banjo sign in the middle of town, like a complete novice, lucky I didn't get someone killed...and lo and behold it was just a rusty replacement in an original pole...I'll never forget it.

And normally with a porcelain sign you can just TELL what it is due to paint flaking and the way it catches the light. Good luck

*EDITED* Just saw Scootdog confirmed my suspicions...case closed.
