MICK, WHAT'S REALLY STRANGE IS WE HAVE A SMALL "OIL CITY" IN A SECTION OF JAMESPORT'S L.I. SOUNDFRONT HILLS CALLED NORTHVILLE. THE COMPANY IMPORTS CRUDE OR SOME FORM OF OIL FROM A DERRICK AND PIPELINES IT TO SHORE AND STORES IT IN ABOUT ONE DOZEN HUGE TANKS. THIS COMPANY HAS NO STATIONS ON THE ISLAND. THE NAME OF THIS COMPANY? CONOCO/PHILLIPS! LONG ISLAND HAS NEVER SEEN CONOCO RETAIL STATIONS AS FAR AS I KNOW, BUT WE DID HAVE PHILLIPS 66 AND ONE TIME...BACK IN THE 60'S. WISH PHILLIPS WOULD RETURN TO THE ISLAND OF LONG! DOC @ TAG.WEST IP: Logged |

I have noticed quite a few new "Phillips 66" stations opening in our area too! A few years ago Phillips/Conoco bought out the former "Shell" refinery in Woodriver Illinois and have quite a profitable business with plans for exspansion in the future. With gas prices the way they are...they might have several options on the drawing board. IP: Logged |
