That can is truly awesome.

Whatever you do, don't attempt to clean it.

NOTICE THE LTD.

This can has the same graphics as the PRESSED TIN PAINTED SIGN.

I belive this a Canadian or New Zeland/Austrailian can, even through it is marked 1 U.S.GALLON.
There are NO KNOWN qts. with the lions head to the left of LION HEAD banner. All known cans with this banner have the lions head between the LION & HEAD. There is one can that has the elongated M & L in MOTOR OIL, but does not look like this can. The lions head is in the upper left corner.

Sorry. WE need someone to date the PRESSED TIN SIGN, then I think WE will have a date for the can.
I'll make a few calls.

Just made a couple of calls, no date yet. But did find out that Dan McLaughlin HAD a Badly Faded can like the one pictured. His also was an LTD.

Dan, at one time probly had the largest SoCal collection of GILMORE. He still has a GILMORE STATION setup inside a building. Complete with NEON SIGNAGE on Porceline signs. A few years ago, he sold alot of stuff back to the GILMORE TRUST.
He has forgotten more about GILMORE, than most of us will ever know.

I still have more contacts to call.

Just got back from Pomona [rained on Sat., Cold today, TOTAL FINDS 0 ].
Info I have is the can & sign is LATE 30's. Maybe as late as early '41, when GILMORE sold out to MOBIL. Very few metal signs & cans were made during the war, & GILMORE was re-branded after the war.
