Wanted: Dipstick for Tokheim 142 Kerosene pump. I have the 67 gallon version, converted to gasoline use (Red Crown). If anyone has a dipstick in nice condition, please let me know. Will buy or trade.

Thanks,
Wes

Do not know if the long black stick I picked up at a closed down station would be what you are looking for but I will try to post a picture. Unfortunately it was not in nice shape.

Thanks!

I'll try to get dimensions this weekend when I go down there. It should read a max of 67 gallons (or thereabout) according to factory literature.

Mike - it should be a steel stick with stamped or etched markings (mine's too rusty to make out). I would be interested to see what you found, though.

Thanks,
Wes

Wes, I do not have a picture yet but it is a black wooden stick at least 15 feet long. I did take a picture of the station it was used at.

I picked up the three pumps that were used there. They all have the yellow inspection stickers of 2000-2001 so I am guessing the station was open until then.

The new owner is using the station as an Auto repair shop. The pumps sat in the back of the station and are all missing the front and rear panels.

I will get a picture of the stick and post it as soon as I can.

Mike;
The long black stick (15') you found sounds like regular tank gauging stick used to measure underground tanks.
Increments are in inches.
Stations use that to gauge a tank in inches then cross reference the inches to a gallon chart for that tank.

Chuck must be right. Sorry it is not the stick you are looking for Wes. Here is a picture anyway.

It is only 12 feet long and 13/16 square. It has painted white markings but very faded. Good luck on your search.

Wes;
You may be able to salvage the tank dipstick you have if you can't find one.

Try using an "Electrolysis" method to clean off the rust, then clean it with Muriatic acid to etch the old markings.

The Electrolysis was described in a couple links here on old gas. Not exactly sure how to do the Muriatic acid. Just remember my grandfather used it to sharpen and clean old metal files. Maybe someone on this site has done it and could explain.
