We cleared some brush out from behind our school and found a gas pump that is mounted to a piece on concrete. I have found some info on the pump. It is made by Martin & Schwartz out of Salsbury MD. Model number is "2". There is also a serial number on it. Does anyone know about this pump? The last gas price on it is "15 3/10 of a cent per gallon. I can't find a year on the pump but the cover says "Mobile Kerosene" I think. Any information would be of great interest to me. We don't know what to do with it. Should we throw it away or sell it to the highest bidder????

OK, good idea. I'm headed out there now so I should have a picture on here in a couple of hours. I'll get the serial number off of it too.

ok, I have uploaded pics to ImageShack but I don't know what to do now. If you sent me an email earlier wanting pics, please send me another request because your addresses are on my PC at home. I will send you the pics. Here is what is written on the metal plate on the side "Pennsylvania Serial No. 31" " Martin & Schwartz, Inc." "Salisbury, MD USA"
"Model 70 Series 2 Serial No. 16746" Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., Inspected, Power Operated Discharge for Hazardous Liquids, No. 897043" Hope that helps you.

The code with [img= does not work. I'll try to convert your links to images...

It looks to be a M&S 70 From the 30s. It is worth $450 in the book. Yours would be worth a little less than that. Good Find

IMO, you will have to deduct for new doors, faces, sight glass, crank, and repairs to the top. The book shows that it came out in 1937, and I would guess it was available into the early to mid 40s.

It's a very neat looking pump - I like it.
