So, I gutted three Gilbarco electric pumps. Two of them had the Leland Electric motor still in them. Just for giggles, I plugged them in and they fired right up after sitting for, what, 40 years maybe??? Are they of any use? I hate to take them to the junkyard for 3 cents a pound. Any ideas??? Grinders, buffer, fans, lathes, potters wheel, turntable, drill press etc. etc. Anything that can use a 1/4-1/3hp motor. DB ------------------ IP: Logged |

Years ago I mounted one to a piece of square plywood, attached a buffing wheel, and now anytime I need to buff something I get it out put it one my work bench, clamp it down and buff. If I remember correctly, a buffing motor is recommended to turn around 3200 rpm, and the gas pump motor turns around 2800 rpm. A good way to same $100.00. One thing I forgot, a gas pump motor is a short run motor, so don't try and run it for long periods of time. Jack Sim [This message has been edited by Jack Sim (edited 02-24-2006).] IP: Logged |

I had a couple that I took down to the weekly farmers salebarn consignment auction. Figured farmers could use them. I got $2.00 each for them and I guaranteed them to work. Next batch will probably go to the salvage yard for scrap. Keith IP: Logged |

Chuck, I have been dialing the wrong number for you. What is your phone number again? Bob 336-1797 IP: Logged |
