Hi Rex,
My Grandfather worked for Mobil from 1929 to 1966. Over the years he brought home a lot of signs and oil cabinets that I now own.Yes the cabinets are moble oil gargoyle with porclin signs on the double doors. I also have alot of socony and socony vacuum signs. One sign is huge, about 7'tall and 6' wide and is shield shaped double sided. I think it was the main sign that hung on a pole in front of gas station. All my signs are in mint condition. Do you know what the org. color of oil cabinet?
thanks for the help
Jim

Welcome to Old Gas, a great place to spend time. The cabinet should be "olive green" with a red top. I had a beautifully restored one in my collection which I just sold to a friend in Idaho.

Hi Ray,
What do you think a cabinet like that is worth?

I BELIEVE THEY WERE DARK GREEN ON THE OUTSIDE AND A LIGHTER GREEN ON THE INSIDE .MOST OF THE RESTORED ONES ARE DONE IN MOBIL RED AND WHITE AS SHOWN.ITS GREAT TO HAVE A FAMILY CONNECTION IN STUFF YOU LIKE.

Rex,

I have two different types of cabinets. One has a sliding hasp that locks the doors the other is two fixed hasp on each door. Also the set of signs are different, one has ASK FOR the other has ASK HERE FOR. Have you seen both types of cabinets?

thanks Jim
