I'm selling my Rare Antique 1915 Full-Function Bowser Gasoline Pump. Anyone have any ideas of much it's worth? Or where I might be able to get an accurate appraisal? Here are the details: Early 20th century Bowser gasoline pump with the original owner's keys. Made July 27, 1915! This beauty is from a three-car Garage with an over-head sprinkler device for washing the car and an underground gasoline tank to attach to the Pump. I painted over the red rust color when I moved it from Bridgeport where I had used the Burritt house [built in 1917] as my medical office on Clinton Avenue. It is fully functional with all gauges and suction in excellent working condition. Pump # F48502 Bowers Gasoline Storage system manufactured July 27, 1915. Distributed by C.S Eames & Co in Bridgeport and sold to A.W. Burritt for his garage with the house built in 1917. THANKS FOR ANY ASSISTANCE! IP: Logged |

DrGas: Welcome to the site. It would be much easier to answer your question if we had a photo of the pump in question. Please post one - or send it to me and I'll post it. You can get my e-mail address by clicking on the little 'mail' icon at the top of my post. If the pump you have is only intended for in-garage use, and it doesn't have any glass cylinder, then the value will not be very high. Most of the pumps made by Bowser for the use you state aren't worth what the visibles and clockface pumps are worth. But a picture will help us give you a value. Later . . . Here is DrGas' pump. It looks like a Bowser 41 to me. Book value in '99 of $500.00. Later . . . Jim ------------------ IP: Logged |

Welcome to old gas, that pump in my area would sell for about $100. Richard IP: Logged |

Realistically --- nothing close to $500...$125 to $200 would be about it.(even on Ebay) Not much interest in these...but I like them! Jim IP: Logged |

The original keys will add some value to this.

I think the story helps it out a bit, probably around 250 -350. Could maybe be higher if it was auctioned in the town you found it if the person that originally had it was well known. Looks like it does not have the original bananna nozzle, Water seperator (option) or tap. IP: Logged |

I just checked the tag on the same pump that I have. There is no Fig. # [BOWSER used Fig. in place of model #]. Pump # that DrGas is refering to is a serial #. Dating these pumps is almost impossible. By checking another book I have, it appears that this pump is a Fig. 242 [could be used for dispencing gasolene, oil or kerosene at a station/hardware store]. The selector lever has 1pt, 1qt & 1/2gal. plate. They were also sold to private garages to pump gasolene/kerosene. IP: Logged |
