Found Along the Way seems to have been on a hiatus. I thought I'd try to bring it back, as it was one of my favorite features. Granted I have been really busy lately, and haven't had much time at all to go out and take pictures. I know my contribution to this one will be measly. Better than nothing at all though...

Out driving today, I photographed two signpost that I THINK I can identify, but just wanted to get other opinions on what it might be.

Here's the first one:

I'm thinking it's DX.

And the second:

My first thought on this one was Std. of Ind., but then I saw a website today with this Speedway 79 sign:
CLICK HERE - direct image access not allowed by gassigns.org

So, now I'm thinking that could be it too.

Anyway, if anyone has any FATW pics, please, please contribute them...

Wes

Spent a little time driving about today, saw a few sights, took a few photos...

Here are some MS80s on a farm:

Here's a neat old station, maybe Gulf:

Next I found an old abandoned bulk plant.
It was all closed up, but had some holes in it. I stuck my camera in the holes, into the pitch black, and took some pics. I then adjusted the contrast later. There are a few neat things inside...

And even a pump in there (newer one):

The place is huge - like 12,000 sqft, 3 floors. No telling what all is in there if this is what I could see from a few holes in the wall...

And on the way home, a Phillips 66 sign, still standing along US40:

Great job Wes, I especially liked the Phillips 66 pic at the end.

I thought the first pole held a dog eared Gulf sign maybe...

Great feature.

Time for some more goodies...

Driving around today (I seem to do that a lot lately - that's gotta stop soon)...

Ran across an old, old farm. With an old, old pump!
Check this out!

Wow... So, I talk to the owner. Very nice elderly lady. She says it's not for sale. Why? Because her husband still uses it! They use it to fill the tractor, mower, etc. Still have gas delivered to the underground tank every year!
Here's some more pics of it:

And what's that peeking back at me from the barn?

So, more cruising... Later I find this neat old Marathon station. I can tell by the signpost.

Got a few goodies today, will put in BOTW...

Have a good one,
Wes

Just curious,

Anyone know what kind of visible that is? It looks pretty nondescript...

Thanks,
Wes

Wes, I think that's a Massey-Fergusson tractor peeking out at you.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I really enjoy this - looks like it's back for good...

And now for something a little unusual:

From Rod...
---
I don't know if this fits since it isn't anything old but sometimes the new is kind of unique or being in the right place at the right time to see what is changing. Our local CONOCO station is changing over to SINCLAIR. As I drove by on my way to work I noticed they were changing over the pumps. I wanted to stop and take some pics but was running late. When I got off work at 10 PM I stopped for gas and noticed it must have been 5 o'clock somewhere 'cause the pumps were all CONOCO on the bottom but SINCLAIR on the top. Kind of made a lighter moment out of spending so much for a fill up.
Have a GR8 week end!
Rod

Personally I'm glad it's changing TO Sinclair. Good to see that the Dino's not going extinct yet...
