For this month I would like to do signs with animals on them such as tigers elephants etc. This would include real animals as well as fictitious such as flying horses. Duplicates from all collectors welcome. As usual tell as much as you know about the sign. If you are not able to post pictures send them to me or any other person on the site that can help you. Thanks in advance to help keep this thread alive and well and most important have fun and enjoy. Ted ![]() I’ll start this off with a 20 x 28 inch double sided porcelain Powerlube sign from my collection. You guys from Colorado can post yours also. There were several sizes. Anyone know the different sizes???????

Looks like someone got anxious getting this off a building and put a horizontal crease in it. My wife carted this home from an antique shop a few years ago. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Did someone say tigers? To answer your questions about sizes for Powerlube signs, there are three known. The more common smaller sign is 18x28 and actually has two versions. Both are double sided however the Wolverine Sign company version has a white outline around the letters in the words Powerlube and motor oil while the ensco version does not have a white outline. The larger sign is 5'3' and there are several version of it however there are only 20 or so signs know to exist. It is not know who the maker was however I would suggest it was Wolverine. There is a double sided with white outline and one without as well as a single sided version without the white outline. Also there was a differenc in that some have grommet or holes for hanging and some where hung in a bracket without any holes at all. Lastly there is the rarest a small tin sign that there is only one known version. Below is a picture of all three together and showing the white outline and non white outline. I sure wish these were mine! Scott loves the tigers! ------------------ [This message has been edited by scootdog (edited 12-08-2005).] IP: Logged |
