This is the Humble sign that I just finished cleaning up. It's far from mint but at least it's presentable, especially considering what it looked like before I started. This one was tough.

Hey looks good. What did you end up using to clean it?

GREAT JOB! THE WHITES LOOK WHITEY WHITE! THE WORD HUMBLE LOOKS TO BE EMBOSSED...COOL SIGN! ANY PLANS ON TOUCHING IT UP? I'VE DONE THAT TO SOME CHEAPIES I'VE PURCHASED OVER THE YEARS! BETTER THAN LETTING THE CHIPS DO THEIR THING ALL OVER AGAIN!

Thanks gasoildude. You'll probably cringe, but I used wet/dry sandpaper. Started with 600 on the rough parts and used finer where it was not as bad. I sanded it wet. I figured the rust stains had already etched the porcelain, so what the heck. You can see where I worked on the stains if you get at the right angle, but I think the rough places where I lost the gloss would have been there anyway.

Hey Doc, the word Humble is embossed. It's big too, 8 x 4. I read a post you had a couple of days ago about touching up signs, but I don't know. I may just leave it like it is. Hopefully it won't get any worse, it will be inside. Do you think it will get any worse?

SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM IF MOUNTED INSIDE. IT'S USUALLY THE ACID RAINS OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS OVER MANY YEARS THAT CAUSED ALL THAT TO HAPPEN!
