Hey guys 'n Gals!

It's that time of the month again -- time to share the petro relics that we've stumbled across in our recent travels, and check out what other people have found as well.

If you would like to contribute to this feature, simply post the pictures here or email them directly to me and I will post them for you. Be sure to include a story or description with your subissions.

On the way to Rex's auction, I saw a lot of things that I just had to stop and take pictures of on the way home...

In Madison, Indiana, there's an intersection with an awesome station on each of two corners -- and they're both converted into restaurants!

Here we have Chicago's Pizza..

And, the Red Pepper...

If I'd had more time, I would have definitely stopped and eaten at the Red Pepper... Or maybe both...

Some of you may remember, several months back, when I reported finding an American 8-sided visible still in use, selling Kerosene, in an old hardware store. Well, here are the long awaited pics...

It's in AWESOME condition, still selling Kero. The paper sign taped to it shows the Kero price. It's just beautiful, and you can actually use it!

Pretty sweet, eh? I love those Crystal Flash globes...

Months ago, a station in a bad part of town caught my eye. So, last month, I went there to investigate further. It's in remarkable condition, especially considering that it's in a meth-infested area with a trailer park behind it. It must have closed long, long ago...

Notice how much it looks like the Restored DX station mentioned recently...

I wonder what used to be right here??

And here too!

Note that this is the only one that isnt filled with concrete, and there are extra bolt holes. That indicates to me that hard times befell the station fairly early in its life, and when the visibles went away, only one pump was in service...

Here, on the side, we see where a water hookup was. The filled place in the concrete next to the wall may have been where an Air Meter was planted...

I wonder what tall, vertical sign was here? Maybe Mobiloil or Iso-Vis?

It's an amazing old station. I'm in the process now of doing research to find out what brand it was, locate old pictures, and find the present owner...

Doc,

Thanks for the compliment

The panel in the window above the restroom door is actually plywood, unfortunately. I sure would like to get into that attic though...

I took this shot the other day in Sacul, Tx. It might not even be on the map. And yes, I stopped and checked. Neither the pump nor the Coke sign is for sale. I asked the guy if I could take a picture, thanked him for letting me enjoy them on this beautiful day in the middle of nowhere, and went on my way.

I've posted these before, but thought everyone might enjoy seeing them again. These are at a Mobil distributor in Jacksonville, Texas.

Looks like a Standard Oil/Crown station circa 1924....there is a pic on page 36 of Pump and Circumstance. I'll post if I can figure out how.

Wes...I love that kerosene pump in the hardware store. Not sure I would hang the shovels and other implements so close to that globe and cylinder.

This is a picture I took at a local gas station a few years ago, a Pennzoil stock car getting gas at a Shell station.

Here are a few visible pumps that I have found in the past couple months.

Here is a real nice Fry. It is all original & was original to the farm. I talked to the guy for over a hour about the pump & many other things. He said the pump was not for sale at this time. He said that he would sell it but his wife loves antiques & would not part with it. He did want my number incase there was a change in her mind.

Next here is a Wayne 515 in very nice condition. The guy has the original globe that goes on top of the pump in the house. He said the pump is not for sale yet but it will be sometime soon.

Last for now is a Dayton 600 in great condition. The fella that has this one is the second owner of it. It was drug across a field on the original slab of concrete to where it sits now. The guy is 94 years old & does not want to part with it at this time. I always keep trying though on all of them

Here's the station image that archimedes sent. 1924 Standard (KY) station. It's definitely got some similarities.

I'm very curious to see what my research at the library comes up with. I'm really leaning toward Standard (Indiana) or Mid-Continent (DX).

Kevin - I know! I'd never put implements of destruction so close to a globe and cylinder. Sheesh... You'd think Rex was running the place with that Globe-Shovel hanging there...
