Here are the last? of the B/A. As you can see I have a few more, I will go thru those later. The blue and orange signs are the transitional ones from 1967 to Gulf's buy-out Jan.1 1969. The green and red ones were from 1948 to 1966. I don't have any Bow-tie signs yet which were pre-1948. The letters went over the front doors along the front of the building.

Here's a sample of a station circa 1960. Check out the big neon sign!

Ken

I really like the small double drip in the fame behind your bennett. That is a really nice sign I missed on like that once close to saskatoon.

Hi Ray. Doc is right, British American Oil Co. and British Pertoleum have no ties at all. B/A started off in 1906 in Ontario and grew across Canada and was bought out by Gulf Oil Jan.1, 1969. If you haven't seen it, check out Alex Colwell's B/A site. It has a great history lesson and some cool pics. www.britishamericanoil.ca

Hi Jim and welcome to the site. Yup, I do know where that station was. It was situated at the north end of Broadway Ave which is now called "5 Corners", here in Saskatoon. There is a highrise there now. Everytime I go past there, I think of that station. My neighbor used to drive truck in the city here and said that was one of the better stations in the city back in the '60's. My cousin remembers the big neon sign flashing "B" then "A" then "BA". Pretty flashy back then.
Ken.

Hi Ward & friends;
I've been following this site for about a year now. I guess it time for my two-cents!

Let's see, what's in the "toy box"?
Mostly a minor (by comparison!) collection of auto-related stuff;
>Some old shop test equipment; incl a minty '67-vintage Marquette Dynavision Analyser.
>A pair of 64 Chevys; an SS hardtop, my first car, purchased in '77 & the family funster; a Belair 9-passenger wagon, my summer toy. I also have some signs off the wagons original selling dealer / a long story! (Is that like "matching-numbers"?)
>Various interesting signs (Goodyear/Atlas/Q/S etc) and a few quart cans. etc,etc,etc (understatement!)
>Much swap meet fodder. (car parts, mainly)
Put it this way; Jay Leno said "the collection expands to fill the available space." If thats the case I'm due for more space!
BTW, I have friends and family in the Yorkton area and have been hanging out at Good Spirit Lake since '62.
Perhaps I'll post a few pictures when I can...
Great post, Ken. I hope I haven't hijacked it too much.
Later.....Jim
