WS4L welcome to the site. Each month a member does a segment on a Oil company. This month it is Marathon and Gary has done an excellent job of giving us more insight to the company. Curt did the Barndall thread in April and he did an excellent job, as have all the members who have put together these threads. I know that in my approx. 1-1/2 yrs I have enjoyed each look into the past. So take the site for a spin, I believe that you will enjoy.

Might as well give a status report since this made it to the top again. The guy that is responsible for the Beanie Babies, Mr Ty Warner is now the proud owner of this historic service station building. It came with the adjoining golf course that is built where the oil field tanks once stood. Warner has purchased a number of flagship Santa Barbara properties thanks to all of those Beanie Baby millions (or was it a billion?).

He has done a remarkable job of restoring and or remodeling many of these famous properties including the Santa Barbara Biltmore Hotel and San Ysidro Ranch, despite having to put up with endless nonsense from every group that thinks that they should have a vested interest in anything that gets done in Santa Barbara. So far he has not announced any plans for the Barnsdall Service Station and it still looks pretty much like the photo on my banner. Hopefully when he gets done with some of his bigger projects like the Miramar Hotel he will turn his attention to this little station in Goleta.
