I am trying to remove the rubber grommet on this hose.
I want to keep the hose,as well as the grommet, but don't want to cut either.
I have tried WD-40,smooth tape and grease over the brass crimped end but the grommet will not slide over it.Any ideas??

A few qustions and suggestions...

A: What's on the other end of the hose?

B: Have you applied mild heat, as in a hair dryer?

C: Why do you have to take it off?

Wes

Hi Wes
Here is what is on the other end.

It is much thicker and more difficult,so I chose the opposite end.I was considering heat, but not sure exactly how and with what. This grommet is thick and old and it would take a considerable amount of heat to penetrate it,and might destroy it.
I want to remove the grommet so I can use the hose on my ECO #97 wall mount. It clashes with the #97 as is..
I would like to save the grommet and let someone with a #93 model islander use it on their hose.It should slip easily right on over it,but refuses to come off the other way.
I know I can give him the hose as is,and find one w/o it for myself, but I want to see if this can be done first.

Well, I guess in that case, you could soak it in scalding water for an hour or so. Reheat/change the water each time ti starts to cool. Then douse it with dish soap, sliding the grommet back to get the soap inside of it.

Might be worth a try...

Best of luck,
Wes

Take it to a hose repair shop. They will cut & repair the end. I repair air hoses all the time at work, I have the crimper & ferros that are brass.

I did as Wes suggested and boiled some water, then Submerged the grommet & hose for a good 15 minutes.
The soap wasn't as important as the rubber always got hung up on the brass flared collar end.
So While the rubber was still pliable,I quickly inserted and ice pick gently between the rubber grommet & brass fitting, working it around back & forth and ended up walking the grommet right off the hose fitting.
Excellent!...Thank You.
