Before I start I will say this.
This breakage happended in the sixties or as also known as the pre-jarvassic peroid of collecting. This is before the plague of the Jarvis Jinx of the new millemium.

The question is.. My Father in law "repaired" this in the sixties using water based glue (elmer's I think). That was good since it turned yellow and I could let it soak off and start again. How should I repair it. silicone, water based glue, super glue? any suggestions? The pieces fit very tight.
Also as you can see on the third picture the screw attachment for the ring corroded and snapped when I started to mess with it.
Anybody got an extra?

This is out of the box thinking, so I don't know if it will work......

We used to have a guy that would come to our mall and set up a booth and repair (with heat) glass items that were broken. Wonder how that would work???

Hi John

Something I have used in the past was a Epoxy Adhesive called HXTAL NYL-1. It is a two part mix 3 to 1. It is little expensive but worth it. It will not yellow!! It is made for repairing antique glass. You have to have good way of holding the pieces together because it sets up slowly at 75 deg F. One week for final cure. Here is the website www.hisglassworks.com
