Just wondered if many of you feel/see that visible gas pumps are being "forgotten" in favor of newer electic models by most collectors today? It is similar to what happened to the Model T collectors - unfortunately many of them have passed. Do you see visible pump prices dropping while electrics are climbing, or what are visible prices doing in your area? I realize there are pump collectors who will hopefully always buy and preserve visibles and all other types of pumps - but as a general rule are visibles now sought after by new collectors also?

In the dumps. No one wants em and are almost to scrap value.

I didn't see any priced at Iowa Gas for scrap value or i would have rented a trailer....

I find the visible pumps much more interesting than the electric models (but that is just me). I just got into gas pumps about a year ago but can without a doubt say that it was the visible models that got my attention. I can't really say of the prices are dropping on them in my area because I almost never see one for sale. I do plan to add more to my collection (maybe a Rush next).

I have about a dozen visibles, I love them all.

That applies to that American that I am getting from ya....right!

They go for more lately than I want to spend when at auctions up by me. I have 4 visibles and 2 pre visibles and love them all.

I like a visible or two, but for me it's the height that's the problem, so i've stuck with mainly electric pumps in the garage.
over here in England visible pumps are rare to survive, nor did we have many in service compared to curb pumps and the later electrics.

Thanks for input everyone, I'm not surprised that there is support from the group of collectors on here - but how about in the general market place? Farm sales, non petro auctions, etc. I remember when you couldn't touch a visible for under $1k regardless of what the cylinder was or wasn't, seems like that is not the case anymore? I understand everything has dipped a little, but it sure seems like Wayne 60, Tokheim 36, Bennett 541 are back strong... What are everyday visibles bringing in your neighborhood (with/without good cylinder)? thanks

In my neighborhood they have dropped considerably. Common visibles especially. No cylinder 4-600 where they were 1000-1200 any day. Even with cylinder they are hard to sell for 1000-1200. There is lots for sale locally and they haven't sold after months. Now is the time to buy em!

They seem as strong as ever up here! I rarely go to a farm sale where one is located because they go so high, I just can't trade on them! People still seem fascinated with that big old glass cylinder sitting up there in the air!

I like my visible but as time has passed a lot of people collecting think Dino is the best thing ever but that is what they remember . It does not seem that long ago but I remember when my uncle changed from Sinclair to Bp and I think that was maybe 45 years ago. So time moves on and collections change
