Kind of a silling questions, but I'm about to buy a NOS Sunoco metal globe frame with an electrical socket in it and it's in the orignal box. But no lenses. I'm going to buy it either way, I'm just wondering if orignal Sunoco lenses ever come up for sale. I'm asking because in my short 18 months in the hobby I have never seen any. Just wondering if I'm patient should I expect to run across some sooner or later or is it a long shot that I'll ever see any?

Ya might have to go to Shows, but they are still out there. Try Scott Benjamin or Lonnie Hop, Want To Buy here.

It depends on what lens you want. I saw a set at Dixie Gas Show this weekend. Some are more common then others. They are around. You just have to ask or go to the shows.

Thanks guys! I planning to go to Peotone this fall. Maybe I'll get lucky there. The fact that there was a set at Dixie is certainly a good sign! This is my favorite.

I have seen many of these Sunoco globes over the years. I bought one at Mason Dixion Gas about ten years ago. I think Scott Benjamin was advertizing one for sale in the past six months on the back of Petro Collectors Magazine.

Saw one like it at Hershey last year, but couldn't make a deal on it.
Always looking for Standard Oil of Indiana, or any globes! Buddy Koehrn

Just got to remember guys, I would only be looking for the lenses. I'll have the frame. I too have seen several full globes sell. But I've never seen lenses only come up. Here is a pic of the frame and one of the box it came in. I'm not sure how this socket factors in yet, but he says it is with the globe. Can't wait to get my hands on this thing!! Anyone know anything about this Phila. Elec. & Mfg. Co.? What also makes this exciting is the hole in top of the frame. Now I have to find one of these Revere Thru-the-globe pole light kits to go with it. Yah!! Good luck with that!!

If it was me and the lenses I have been wanting were for sale in front of me as a complete globe I would not let that be the deal breaker. For a good blue Sunoco globe your looking at $500 +/- .... Then just sell the body they were on if its an original body it will sell quick. Bobby

I would hate to break/chip a lens trying to get the snap ring out that has been in there for 60 years.

Neat globe body. I have never seen one made for a light tower to be added.
The snap rings come out easy if they are not painted in.

You should be able to find one. I sold a nice complete Sunoco Globe on an original metal body with the old original yellow paint on it at Michigan Gas for $650/found it in a feed mill shoved down in between two sacks of oats. Good luck bud.
