Ok I have never said I was an authority on globes or bodies and this proves it.
I recently acquired a globe with the lenses held into the open body with a metal ring with four studs and nuts. I have owned globes like this in the past but have never really known the proper name for the body.
What is the correct name for these?
Unfortunately the globe body is broken. Here is a picture of the ring from the globe.
Thanks in advance...

Here is the globe body you will need for that lens, I think it is a Hull body. Also the threads on the lens ring is a weird size or at least on mine, so if you have all the nuts that is a good thing.

Okay shall we take a vote? confused

"Hull" or "Banded"

You guys are killing an old man.
Banded ...And the body above is a banded glass open body...Hull is different. Where is Scott ? ..lol
Banded body.

Hulls are really thin milk glass and have only two mounting holes.

Thanks everyone.
I am going to go with banded. I just wanted to make sure I was calling them the right name.

Now will these lenses fit anything other than the banded body???
I don't have a 13 1/2" metal body here to check. frown
I have had several Lunsford globes over the years. They are banded body lenses. If you measure across the back of them they are 13 5/8" in diameter so they will not fit on a capco body and with the size and no notches they obviously will not fit on a regular glass body.

They will however fit on a 13 1/2" gill body. Most Gill bodies are 13 1/4" but Texaco, American, Amoco, and few others used 13 1/2" bodies and banded lenses fit nicely on them.

They would also fit on a new 13 1/2" metal body but the snap rings may not fit the way they should. You may have to use silicone to hold them in.

Again thank you for the info. That is a big help. Someone contacted me and asked about a body, but I don't have either a banded or hull available. At least now I know what to tell interested parties, since I listed them for sale.
