What type of nuts did original rods have? Looks like some reproduction rods feature "acorn" nuts. Finishing a restoration and trying to keep everything original as possible.

Thanks,

Clayton

They were just hex nuts. I do not believe that anyone is reproducing rods like the originals and the new ones are just threaded rods with acorn nuts on the top. Dave

Clayton,
Not sure about the 17 but my 117 rods are made like long bolts. The top is rounded and the bottom is threaded. The bottom hex nut is the larger "heavy" hex nut.

Thanks Dave and Chris...My rods are apparently reproductions because they are threaded on both ends. I am thinking about using brass acorn nuts on top. Rods will be painted red.

Roy Snook makes the original style rods.

Tell him the length and width you need. They will be the same dome rivet heads and threaded on the bottom end.

Cheaper then the new rods they sell that are not right.
