Hey Guys:

I need some help here !!! I'm doing a Wayne 70. Working on the add glasses and face glasses. My parts list doesn't show the correct wording for these holders. Below are some pictures of the fastners. My question is ? Is there anyway to put them back in ? These go behind the stainless steel trim pieces. I have a bag full and want to keep this pump as original as possible. The guy that saves my *** here, will help me donate $100.00 to oldgas.com. I'm told they are made out of zinc ??

Give me some ideas guys !!!

Thanks, Doug

They are supposed to clip in but the clip part is normally broken or they fit so loose they fall back out and don't hold. Poor design in my book. JB Weld sounds good.

Hi Fellas. When I did my 70, I didn't have any JB Weld handy, so I used some metal panel adhesive that we use in the autobody industry to "glue" on roof panels, door skins, etc. I know it's not that readily available to the general public, but it did work good. Just a little tid-bit that worked for me.

JB Weld and don't forget to run a tap down and clean the threads.

Maybe we could make some??
Is it a spring clip with a pieced/tapped hole..cant really see the detail.

Cant look at my 3/4 wayne 70 (might be a Wayne52.5?) as mine has the early cast disintegrato trim..wish I could find some of that..
If there is a good demand I may be able to make some..

I had the same problem, ended up fitting what was left of the clip into the hole and using Gorilla Glue to secure. Not the most professional method, but the stuff bonds like steel and it was impossible to notice from the outside (or even the inside for that matter).

Okay !!! Thanks for the replys. Lance I think Dick would know best about this, But I believe they were crimped into the stainless steel trim pieces ? DB ?

Going to write Jim Potts now and ask where i can send him the hundred dollars. I've been on oldgas for awhile now, and feel i should give back. " What comes around goes around "

Thanks again everyone, Doug

Dodo,
They can be made, but you'd have to make a gaZILLION to make any money for yor time. Plus for the average guy to take the time/effort to squish the little ears...JB Weld or Gorilla Glue works best/faster.

When the ity bity lug piece is missing, I have used JB to hold the outer frame to the door panel [4 little spots], insert glass & JB the inner frame in place [4 more little spots]. Faster than thoes ity bity machine screws.
They only hold the inner frame on that holds the face & adv. glass.

I cant really see it well enough.
I do have a small machine shop, so I could probably build it. But it boils down to numbers and prices.

Just started at a place a while back so now have access to more goodies like heat treating oven, surface grinder, a few things I dont have..
