Looking for information on this Hayes Model 7960 ten-gallon
visible pump. It has what appears to have a Fry pump assembly installed in
it. Was this a conversion possibly done at the Hayes factory or added later?
With two I.D. tags one original reading 7960 and the other one reading 3018.
The pump assemble still has some of the same paint color that the rest of
the pump has. Would appreciate any information.

Bruce.

Some of the pump companies did not make there own pumping mechanism, they either purchased them from some other pump company, or from a company that just made the pumping mechanisms.

Naturally, they didn't mention this in their literature.

Jack.
Thanks for the information. This is not the first time I have run across this. Your new Gas Pump Bible is great. Thanks for your autograph copy Viki from Petro Nuts picked up a copy for me at Iowa Gas.

Bruce,

The '3018' is an inventory tag from an oil jobber/gasoline depot - it has nothing to do with Hayes.

Later . . .
