1950's Royalite Oil Company sign used in the US. US spelling of 'Honor' versus Canadian 'Honour'. Displayed in US stations that had credit card agreements with Royalite to honour each others credit cards. Royalite was later purchased by British American Oil Co. who was subsequently taken over by Gulf Oil in the late 1960s. I have seen a few of these over the years but they were bought in the US and brought to Canada. The slanted 'R' logo is earlier was later replaced by a circle with Royalite spelled through the middle with four coloured wedges, two blue and two orange. There is a BA version of this sign and there may another Canadian brand as well. Cheers, Don.
...it's an American sign, made for Union 76 for display at their stations, as they had a mutual credit card agreement with Royalite...they had similar arrangements with BA and Gulf, and signs exactly like these, but with their logos/color schemes featured...pics pulled from Mecum listings online...
...like the aforementioned BA & Gulf signs, it's technically a Union 76 sign...
