I have no idea about the rack, but my opinion is that the rack is separate from the cans. I don't think the rack was meant for these cans in particular.
Thank you for the reply. I thought something was off about it too. I still threw a $100 bid at it but I was nervous about even spending that much for a few $5 cans and a rack that didn’t even go together.
Different vintages of HEET cans had matching (same period) artwork of an automobile on them. You can usually get an idea of the vintage of the can by looking at the car. The illustration on the front always showed a can of HEET being poured into the car's gas filler. I've always thought the car shown on the cans in your photos looked like something from the later 1950's. John
