Leroy Allen asks, "I cannot find out what this globe is. It was on top of my American 8 sided pump. I have been asking numerous collectors and no one knows for sure. Thanks!"

At first glance, I thought chimney capped Standard crown. But there are differences. It appears to be a globe in transition from the early chimney capped to the crowns we all are familiar with. Wish I could provide more help but it is a cool globe.

The early chimney cap Crowns were different than that (and EXTREMELY RARE). There were three distinct styles of Standard Crowns. The earliest style (chimney cap) kind of looks like this globe, but its defintely not the same. The second style looked very much like a crown that a king would wear. The last style is what we all are used to seeing. I really don't think this globe is a Standard Crown. ALL Standard Crown's are milk glass. This globe doesn't look big enough either.

Looks very similar to a WADHAMS lamp post globe. Maybe an early version.

The second and third generation Standard Crowns can be seen in the Peto News forum.

In the center of the first picture is the common third generation crown.

You can see a second generation "Gasoline" Crown in the 8th picture. Oldgaser John O'hern has it for sale.

The first generation crowns are the ones with chimney caps. They have a style all their own. They also have "gasoline" etched around the base. Most of us will never see one of these in person.
