Hi, Can anyone assist in supplying any info/history on this tin and Canadian oil company? Haven't had any luck on line.
Thanks
Mike

A nice graphic Imperial Pint sized can. Can't help you but I like its look. Looks bigger than a pint has a right to be but there is no comparable beside it.

Thanks, I really like the graphics as well but hard to trace. It came out of Quebec and apparently dates back to the early 40's. I've added a pic for comparison with a US quart.

That's an imperial quart. What you are reading is the french side. Don't know much about the can but I need one for my collection .

Desirable quart can that is only labelled in French. No English on this one. Likely was for the Quebec market only. I've never been able to find any info on the company.

Correct, no English at all. Surprising that there are no references to brand name, company or history. This is only the second one I've seen become available.

Not a super rare can as there has been a few sold at auctions within the last couple years. Although hard to find this can in nice condition. I always found it odd that the company brand was Canada Specialties sounding country wide but I've only ever seen the cans labelled in all French.

The name also suggests that they may have specialized in "one off" type promotional packaging for smaller clients or niche markets but it's hard to believe that they would only produce one brand one time only. Maybe that's why there isn't any history available.

Just received some information from a dealer out of Quebec City who told me that a collector he knows from the area came across 3 unopened cases of this oil in the mid 80's with each case holding 8 pints. The original owner/collector currently has 5 pints, 2 were shipped to the US and the remaining tins are scattered in Canada. Apparently all tins that have come on the market have been full and sold off that way. There is no other company info available at this time.

The wording " Une Pinte Imperiale " is French for " One Imperial Quart " This is not, nor did they make a can this size in a Pint.

makes sense....one imperial pint is only .6 litres. French lessons may be in order.
