Here's an interesting pump in my pile of "to do some day" projects. It's built like a tank, the top and bottom are cast iron and extremely heavy. Even the globe holder weighs in at a little over 10 lbs. This is an original, 15" body that has been powdercoated.

Anyone have an opinion on what the original finish on the globe body, bezels and corner trim pieces would have been? I'm thinking nickle plate.

That, in my opinion is the beautifulest pump ever made.

I look forward to seeing it restored.

Great pump Morgan.

It will look stunning when it's done. I would do the trim in either nickle/chrome or gold. Depending on the brand of choice for the rest of the finish.

Those old art deco pumps are really kewl when you match the paint scheme to the detail on the pump. I.e., multiple colors and a fair amount of pinstriping.

Be SURE to post shots of it when you finish it. Just warn us beforehand so we can all run and get our drool buckets on before the photos load!

Later . . .

Jim

P.S. Anybody know if anyone is re-bop'n these art deco tops?

Jim, Big Cheese had some, don't know if he still does. But I do know some are out there. The repos are 13.5" Not sure if anyone repoed them in 15. I don't think so.

Thanks for the drool guys. I hope to get this beauty done some day. I'd like to find a really sweet lense to work around. Donations?

Morgan:

Your pump would look great with a 'Ascot' globe. The car looks to be the same vintage as the pump styling. Do the pump up in bright colors like the ones that were used in the 20's. Chrome the corner units/trim and do the face trim in a combination of gold and chrome with gold leaf pinstriping on the front and sides of the pump.

Outstanding!

Hell, ship the pump to me with your credit card and I'll paint it and ship it back!!

Big Cheese:

How about it - got any of those re-bops left? How much, and are any colors available?

Later . . .

Here is a picture of a repro Erie style globe body from Walt's Antiques in Michigan, offered at the Peotone, Ill. show in March:

Fabricated construction, not cast. Looked like fine workmanship.

Morgan,
Globe body would have been painted. Not plated. According to Jack's Book, the year would have been 1934.
One showed up a Iowa 2 years ago. It sold AS it came in the gate. Doc Fortin bought it.

Morgan..... I agree with "cans and stuff"... beautifulest pump.... somehow the old Wayne 60 just doesn't quite cut it any more, but I am kind of curious about the story...... how did you find it and then end up getting it ??

Morgan, what is this "to do someday project". Get this thing restored and get some pics posted! I agree that this is the most beautiful pump made and you have the original globe body. That body is worth a small mint. Whatever company you restore it to make sure there is lots of gold plating and pinstripping. There has to be a fantastic story on how you got this beauty...let's hear it.

Morgan How about recasting all the parts, Repop the faces with Ron and cut new sheet metal, Sell the parts to all the people drulling and retire? I would be willing to pay big $$ for a repop marked pump if it was that nice. Just an idea. Rob

Actually, the story is not that exciting. A friend of mine in the pump repair business got it off a farm not 10 miles from where I live.

Over the years we talked trades and finally I got him to turn loose of this and a 15" Marathon Ethyl globe in exchange for a Fry 117 with glass, a Fry Tall Ten without glass and an American 8 sided frame and skins.

At the time it sounded like a fair trade. Today I'd throw rocks at someone offering me that same deal for my Erie and Marathon!!
