Finally finished my second winter project, a Bennett 766. This is my first gas pump restoration. Complete tear down, sand blasted, primed and painted. Hit a few oil/gas auctions to buy original DINO lenses and porcelain signs. The veeder root needed work so it was partially disassembled cleaned, lube and monkeyed around with until it worked again. Here's a video of the veeder root working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UtMtl5pxZM This video also shows the insides, since the outer panels were not on yet. Still need to buy a 12 foot long gas hose.

I told my wife I do not want to do another gas pump for a long long time. But then I find myself checking craigslist and oldgas for sale forum. It's addicting. Maybe a yellow Shell pump next time. The coke machine in the last pic was my October through December project. It's a Vendo 81D. I like the Green next to the red. Glad I went with the Sinclair colors. My son likes the dinosaur too.

Nice. Like the coke machine too. I used those many times as a kid. That was when a coke was a real treat. Kids now drink half a dozen every day.
Thanks guys for the comments. I really appreciate the help from the people on oldgas. I received help with questions both in the forums and with private messages. The Guide to Gas Pump Restoration book was excellent too. Maybe see some of you at the MI gas show next month.

Really nice job, I am moving along with my 766 Resto also. Few questions, what is the small silver rod that sticks out on the upper right side of the side panel, goes into the top of the frame where the light manifold is...... I am also looking for a back door for my 766 (larger front/back door). Any ideas on places to look?
Thanks
ED

Where did you get the rubber that goes around the outlet hose?

Pump looks great!!!! Glad to see you used original globe and signs!
I believe the silver rod you mentioned is the push/pull switch for the light manifold. www.thepumpdump.com might have a door. Hope this helps.
Jarvis, the rubber around the outlet hose is the original. It is torn a little, but I still used it because I could not find a replacement.

Gas Pump Heaven or any place that has window rubber for 1/8 inch glass/ad glass. It is the same as the trim around the hose outlet.

Turned out great! How did you make the sight glass look like it was filled w/gas? It has a gold glow..... Do you know what year your 766 is?
Thank you. I cleaned the sight glass, but it still had a slight yellow tint to it perhaps from the gas staining it over the years it was in use. The inside bulb then gives it a gold glow. This pump was born in April 1954.
