That's cool!!! Amazing where this stuff turns up!!
good thing he had a light touch with the bucket, sweet sign and a keeper for sure.
Stuff like that doesnt happen too often in ones lifetime. And to find such a desirable one in good condition to boot... Congratulations to your buddy, Matt.
Yup.. this is a great buried treasure story. Thanks for sharing it.
Great discovery! You never know what is around us waiting to be found!
Amazing discovery! And to be in such nice shape after all this time!
I had a Hudson/Terraplane sign from 1937 that was a well
cover find. Must have been a common idea.
Same thing for me. Back in the 70's I bought a near mint 6' Gulf sign that covered a well. Guy insisted that he had to have $6 for it!! I gave him some old sheet metal to recover the well.
Okay now that is a great find!! Congrats
Great find & story. Its amazing how many signs where used to cover wells. I have a few in my collection that where used in this manner & have seen others too. That one is a beauty for sure!!
Great find & story.
CONGRATS!
Eons ago I found a 6' round double sided SIGNAL covering a cistern, wording only NO Stop light. Gave it away!
"Wow" is an understatement!! Great find and it will forever feel good remembering the story of how you found it!!! Good times!!

Awesome find! Bet that made his day & beyond. The Flying & Service font looks a bit thinner/different than mine. I wonder if that was regional or if one is just an earlier example than the other.
