A friend brought me this service sign he said came out of an old Ford dealership. He wanted it repainted, lettered,
new neon & transformer installed. I noted the size & stroke of the letters, then proceeded to strip it.
I primed it & repainted blue, then hand lettered it. Once that was done. I scuffed the lettering & took the blue to bare metal in places for a worn look.
Installed new glass, housing & transformer.

They are only old and original once. You should have made him a whole new sign and kept this one for some one who can appreciate the patina.

I agree completely, but it was not my sign or decision. I fabricate, install & repair signs for a living. Yes, it would have been a very simple can to build. It was discussed, but that's not what he wanted.
