Friday is going to be interesting here in the mid-Atlantic. Expecting sustained winds of 30 mph from the NW and who knows how gusty. With no leaves on the trees, those trees are gonna' be talkin'! I don't know about you all, but it's cool the first hour, but after that a little creepy as the roar seems non-stop.

My question is, when is it going to hit you, or are you in the middle of it now?

Nicole
Who hopes you all are battened down ok... shocked

Knee deep in it. Tn. and Ky. have been hit hard with tornados first of the week. Traveling 65 miles per hour when the main soared thru here. Record rain fall have left the ground soaked.
WEB TOES would be a plus. Living on the river lake edge 30 mph doesn't phase me.
Good Luck!

They are saying possible 50 to 70 mph gusts... shocked

It's 4:43 EST now and it's bloody windy out! Bob went out to walk around the house to check it, and almost blew over...fingers crossed everything is ok at this time.

I'm hiding from the noise in our ESE guest bedroom (wind is from the NW), and even there the gusts can be heard. Don't think we'll be sleeping much tonight.

The trees are really roaring in the moonlight! Almost deafening outside...creepy!

Nicole I am in the SW and it is nice here. Sandals no socks as DB used to say. But that's about to change as the northern half of Utah is getting big snow, which they wanted btw. The winds here are scheduled to start blowing as well. I hope the schedule is wrong.
Batten down the hatches and good luck to all the east coast people.

Fred,

Sandals and no socks are good!

There have been multiple trees down and roads blocked our way. If the trees had had leaves, it would have been much worse. We had a flicker of a power outage but so far (knock on wood) no main outage. Many homes in our region are without power. I think a woman was killed in her car from a tree coming down in Baltimore. We've been hearing lots of sirens today.

We got a reading of 70mph today. The poor neighbors trampoline is smashed (the girls used it almost every day), and I picked up a bunch of their balls from our yard and returned them. Got a couple of buckets and a sign from the farm behind us. Alas some of the roof tiles are gone on a new addition we just finished putting up (hasn't been hot enough to stick them good), but hopefully the builder will be able to repair that before Tuesday's rain.

I've been seeing lots of images about 'the Beast from the East' from the UK and Italy. Wow a foot of snow in some places that aren't used to that. I hope the folks in Utah won't get more than they can handle... eek

Winds sound worse than last night and have shifted to the north. Our governor just declared a state of emergency for Maryland as did the governor of Virginia for Virginia. I can only imagine how it's worse up along the New England coast. Wish our basement was finished for a good nights sleep....sigh!

Hope everyone keeps out of the wind tonight and stays safe!

What kind of sign was it? a Flying A?

LOL, Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'll be here all week folks.

Wouldn't that have been nice! No one of those plastic lawn signs for a local event. One of the neighbors got three of their lawn chairs. I would not have minded if one of their antique tractors had rolled on over! lol

Unfortunately 5 asphalt roof tiles came off our addition with a bunch of others still flapping away...
