Hey everybody,

I just bought the Gas Pump Collectors Guide. It says the "Fire Chief" ad glass was never used below the clock face. Does this mean my Tokheim 300 is inaccurate as shown? Also, was the Star globe used with Fire Chief ad glass? This is how I bought it...

I don't think that photo link worked. I'll try to get it right...

The Texaco star globe was originally used on Fire Chief pumps. Sky Chief pumps had a Sky Chief Globe. The Fire Chief globes are new items and were not used originally.
It seems as though I have seen a couple of unrestored tokheim 39's w/ original Fire Chief and Sky Chief ad glass below the computer window.

Interesting. I did not know the Fire Chief globes were not original...

Thanks.

I bought a gilbarco 906 a few years ago that had a fire chief ad glass. This pump was all original and not messed with. The statement in the book is false as far as I am concerned.

The Tokheim 300 & Gilbarco 906, were made with OR without the cutout for ad glass.

Most pictures in the "BIBLE" were done with original brochures, not oil company advertisments, thus the regular or pump company name in place of Firechief or Shell.

When I wrote my gas pump identification book and when I write articles for "Check the Oil!' I learned not to say "never or always," it is will always come back to haunt you. It is better to say "probably," "generally" or "as I understasnd it."
There are always exceptions to everything.

So, Jack, do you recommend your book?
