I know my experience is limited, but these are canning jars, correct?

The tops are correct but 57CameoGuy is right about the jars.

The bottle carrier is also incorrect. Oil bottle carries have a taller handle so you wouldn't get oil and grime on your hands or sleeves by having to reach down past the sprouts.

I agree with all of the above. Many carriers holding oil bottles are actually for milk bottles. Keep your eyes open and avoid those also.

Okay, so here is the problem. He thinks these are valuable and has them bundled with some other great items that I do want. He won't break the stuff up.
So I have to come up with a polite way to tell him that these are not what he thinks they are and they are near worthless?
We'll see, but I just don't think I'll be able to convince him that these are not oil bottles. Then on the other hand, maybe he is well aware of that and is trying to screw me! Hmm...??

That's hilarious, Ron Throckmorton would get a kick out of that picture. Oil bottles (real ones) seem to be doing well, they're coming around just like rocker cans have lately.

If the value for the whole group makes up for the junk within it then buy the collection. However, if the price is too close just walk away if the guy won't exclude those bottles. If he truly believes they're worth much of anything it will be hard to sway him as your the buyer.

Let him know you're willing to buy the collection of pieces anytime if he simply excludes those bottles.

BTW, I'd closely inspect the rest of the collection for fakery to ensure nothing else has imaginary value.

Hey Steve, this seems to happen a lot to me also, but after some polite discussion they seem to come around. On the other hand you could use the bottle for your bloody mary mix?
