I have a friend that has a Coke button that was faded on one side that had been toward the Sun for decades (or maybe a century). He tried everything, even resorted to an aggressive buffing compound, and still didn't have any luck because it had faded too deep. If there is a solution it would be helpful to a lot of us. But hey, it gives it 'character', and it would be hard to fake too!

Depending on circumstance a clear coat can cover some of the damage because often the top coat of porcelain which is a thin layer of glass becomes fractured by the elements. You can see if this will work by simply applying water and seeing if the whiteness disappears before the water dries off. If it does clear coating will help.

Spot it with clear coat. If you don't like the results it will strip easily.

I use Bag Balm on porcelain sign haze. I put it on a little thick at first and wipe it off a couple of times over time. So far has worked great unless in a dusty environment.

I have used bag balm on other signs with satisfactory results since your earlier recommendation. I found it at CVS pharmacy.I don't worry about the dust, I just wipe it off. This was cleaned with muriatic acid and bag balmed.

umm-if it's the same Bag Balm I know, it used to be for softening cows udders for milking, and farmers liked it so much for their rough chapped hands that now the market is larger for chapped hands than udders. Never heard of it used to shine up signs...

Equal parts automatic transmission fluid and dish soap in warm water, scrub with a coarse washcloth and wipe dry. This will leave a nice sheen without attracting too much dust. It works great on all kinds of painted, oxidized, rusted surfaces. But apparently, like everything else, it will be limited in reversing the fading.

The hazing problem is not a fading, but what looks to be a water type residue of stain. I'm not quite sure what causes it. Here it is on the flat sign.

Regardless of semantics and cause, I would expect most any of the treatments mentioned here might help the overall appearance.

Not semantics. Fading and haze are not the same thing. My interest is in whether the haze can be removed. I have all sorts of remedies for putting a "shiny" coating over faded paint and porcelain.
