Bought 2 signs out of Morphy auction 10/5. Basically 2 porcelain signs 48" diameter. If I remember right bought a 48" sign in the past from one of Dan's auction and no problem shipping. Now you have to arrange your own shipping. Got a quote from Craters & Freighters, and to be fair they have not seen the signs. They are guessing building a wooden crate and packing will weight 300lbs,shipping and insurance the quote is $993.18. After a month Morphy charges $50.00 a week storage. Bite the bullet and pay shipping or tell them to run the signs in their next auction and pay the auction fees??

yeah, uship would be a good idea. also, maybe try the OldGas network. it may take changing a few hands and some time, but it might be a better option.
im just trying to figure out what kind of crate and signs they are that would weigh 300 pounds! i shipped a fully crated 6ft pump once and it was like 375 pounds.

Just 2 48" signs probably only weigh 50 pounds total.

I find it remarkable how Morphy charges, charges and does nothing else but take your money and say see ya. I don't care what they might be selling but it will be a cold day in August before they get a penny from me.
Have gas all the time

I just shipped a pump plate to Texas via USPS priority mail and the tab was about $15. It took me 15 minutes to wrap it in cardboard and then put into a box???

I have flown to shows from Tucson and bought 48" signs. Even taking them to a local UPS Store and having them package the sign and ship from Des Moines, Pigeon Forge, or Illinois, it is no more than $125. Your problem is just getting it from Morphy's to a UPS Store. How about a local Cab Co. Ed.

All of the above suggestions are good. As mentioned above, get it out of Morphy's hands first. I would re-post this with a more specific head line, such as... "Looking for help near Denver, Pennsylvania" You might draw more attention from members in that area. Not everyone reads every post. Post it under discussion or the transportation bulletin and go from there.

Maybe when our bids start to dry up, the auction co's will be a little more concerned about who they use and what they charge to ship. I believe/hope the signs are going to be picked up shortly.
