Never tried, but can it be added to home insurance? Maybe with a rider like jewelery? Let us know if you try.

my homeowners covers it under the normal personal property coverage, up to $200K... no additional charges. I'm with State Farm. My agent has assured me several times that my items are covered and that all I need for proof is a list of items and pictures.

Bryce, can the $200K be raised for an additional fee?.. ... yes, he told me to come back in and we can add additional coverage if I think the collection is exceeding that number

Good Luck with that Bryce, personal property does not cover collectibles and antiques, they will cover them but you need an additional rider policy. I would question your agent and get a 2nd and even 3rd opinion by someone who has nothing to gain on your policy. It has been brought up here numerous times, check the archives.

i will question him again... and I may even go as far as taking a voice recorder with me. in the rare case anything ever happens, that recording may be necessary if what you are telling me is correct

I have what is called a blanket policy. I am a renter, so maybe it is different, but I pay for X $ amount of personal property coverage. In the event of a loss, I can spend up to that set amount of coverage to replace my property, no matter if it is my old gas items or my clothing or sofa. But once I spend that total coverage amount, that's it! You just have to be sure you have adequate coverage for everything you own. Darin

^^^ Yeah Darin, thats the same as homeowners 'personal property' coverage. I was told the same as what you have explained above.
But I've never had to test it, nor do I ever want to!
