Some things seem to take longer than others for a variety of reasons! About 8 or 9 years ago, the Warden and I were up by the Canadian border to pick up a pump I had purchased, and we were really proud of it because it was a Wayne 519, and in pretty fair condition, considering where it had been sitting for all of its life! It had several bullet dents in the sheet metal, and of course, the cylinder was broken and the handle was missing. It was also still hooked to the tank, so it offered me some training on separation from the tank, and a good exercise in laying it down onto a trailer with only the Warden to help!
We transported it home and it sat in my shop for a couple weeks until I got up enough courage to disassemble it. After that, it laid on the floor of my shop, in a pile, for the next 4 years. I decided that I didn't want to tackle the dent removal process, so I took it over to a friends place that moonlights as a body shop. Well, it laid there on the floor for another couple years until I prodded him enough, that he finished up the dent removal. When he was done, I picked up all of the parts and brought it home to assemble. It only took me a couple more months to assemble everything, and I delivered it back to his shop for a quick paint job!--LOL!!! Yeah right!!
I sat next to his paint booth for the next 2 years until I finally started hounding him again to finish it up. I had begged him to get it done before the snow hit last winter, so I wouldn't have to transport it in the winter. This spring, he finally called and said it was done!! I hurried over and picked it up, and of course it sat in my shop for another 2 months before I could get around to final assembly! Last night I finished up putting the positive stop indicators back on, and here it is!-----DONE!!!
I had it done in a flat type finish. I wanted something a little different for a change. Now to decide what to brand it?

It would look good with a cloth hose and nozzle. (I'm sure that's coming). Though I like many brands, I left my first one unbranded.

crazy To go along with Kevin's story about every step taking so long........if you look at the first and second pictures, it took him so long to take the pump down and load it...........the grass turned green and grew 6 inches!! LOL. Gotta jerk your chain there Kevin.

I was wondering what Kevin did to amuse himself when he sat down next to the guys paint booth for two years...LOL

It looks nice...you could go with an off, off brand for the fun of it!

Looks really good!! Love the classic look of the mat/satin finish!!

I have a brand suggestion, but by the sound of things, it will take two years to get it repainted blue.

And what are bullet "dents"? They have weak rifles up there in great white north?

ED-- First picture was when I found it, and the second picture was the trip back to retrieve it! About a month apart! Maybe I should have realized then that it would be a long project?

Steve---I think some kids shot at it from a distance with 22 rimfires. They just put a half dozen dents in the skins. The skins are pretty thick on the 515 and 519, as the skins are the main structure support on those 2 pumps!
