In addition to being a deadhead in my hippy years, I got a taste of bluegrass too.

Ralph Stanley was one of the best. He passed away at 89-and was still singing professionally in 2014 and later.

I grew up on bluegrass music as my Dad was in a bluegrass band when I was little, he plays the mandolin. For many it's a music genre either you like, or you can't stand it, lol. I still play my Bill Monroe LP's with regularity...reminds me of my childhood I guess.
Mr. Stanley set the standard for the sound IMO.....a classic voice in the bluegrass world.

Bluegrass today isn't bluegrass like Ralph sang and played.
He and his brother Stanley were the best duet to sing and record.
He developed his singing and playing through the years and got better each year. a Legend for sure.
In the bluegrass circles , when you say Ralph , it's the same as saying Ali in the sports world , the greatest.

Learned of his passing on the way home from the Columbus show, a huge loss for the bluegrass community.

Thankful I was fortunate to have seen him perform on stage.
