Hi. I remember, as a child, seeing very old Standard Oil metal signs attached to the pole on the corner....but the flame wasn't lit up by a lightbulb...it had a natural-gas spigot that allowed it to shoot real flames! Am I remembering wrong, or did these exist...and if so, do they continue to exist (or has the EPA and the Energy Dept. done away with this)?

Something about a large open flame and a gas station doesn't strike me as a good combo.

"OLD" doesn`t only refer to the GTO, LOL! But I don`t remember open flames on Standard signs. It had to be a LONG time ago, LOL!

This is one of those times when I wish my Dad was still around. That would be a question for him. But going back into the fifties I don't remember [real] flames on a Standard sign.
