Please all….. please, please, please, give my 'sideways picture fix' a try. I am begging you.. LOL. If you rotate your photos in your phone twice and save it, it should fix the problem.

One recent thread has 28 pictures and 14 of them are sideways !!!

Just follow my fix (for pics taken with a cell phone) at this link:

https://www.oldgas.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=706835#Post706835

I understand it might be complicated for some.... but please, just give it a try. The instructions are probably more complicated than the actual process of doing it.

Together we can make this website even a little better than it already is.

Thanks (I will step down from my soap box now),
From Steve and probably a few others

crazy

P.S. If the photos are already in your computer, you can email them to yourself, open and save them to your phone and rotate them in your phone. (a little bit of work, but still easier than the old way)

I'm 70 years old and if I can figure it out, then anyone can.
I believe its just a product of impatience and frustration with new technology.
This digital age has a lot of us "long haulers" confused a bit.
Its really just a matter of taking the time to sit down and explore your own equipment a little.
When we give up learning--that's like admitting its over!

If Steve's method works for you--GREAT!

My two cents , when you take picks on phone and take them holding vertical they go sideways, when hold phone horizontal works every time at least for me.

I do not know if size matters on a phone but it does on my computer. If I try to post a vertical picture and it is too big it will lay down so it can fit. If I shrink it a little (does not have to be a lot) it will stay vertical.

I believe that the default for loading pictures on Oldgas is horizontal or landscape. What I do for vertical or portrait oriented photos on my computer is to just open each one up, save it, and then close it. When I then load them onto OG with Full Editor they come out the proper way up. I can't say if this would work for phones since all of mine have cords and some even have rotary dials, lol.

I just tried the open and save picture without shrinking it. It works. First picture was as is in my picture file. I opened the picture to edit it but did nothing and saved it when closing it. It stayed upright when I posted the second time.

MATT, THAT WORKS GREAT !! That's easier than my phone suggestion !!

First photo is from my computer hard drive picture file. Then I just simply opened it, hit edit on the software that opens the photo, cropped it down a very small amount and VOILA !! (second picture)

THANKS FOR SHARING MATT. FIXING PHOTOS IS SUPER EASY DOING IT THAT WAY !!

-Steve

PS. Still kicking myself in the @#$ for not buying this sign.

It is easy and I figured it out way back. However, why do we have to do this at all on this forum? I'm on several other forums for Jeeps and Diesel Trucks, classic cars, etc. I have never had to edit and re-save a picture on my phone or iPad to get them to load straight. They always load upright and just as they appear on my device. What's different about oldgas that we have to do this?

in thy presence is fulness of joy;

Go to the picture file. Right click and select "Open With" and select "Paint".
When the picture opens, if it is correct, select save on the menu bar.
If it is not, select "rotate" until you get it the way you want it.
